Welcome to the forum.
It's hard to get a discount especially on Rolex sport model watches. Personally I think you need to tale individual dealers on their own merit and use your own personalty and buying skills to get that discount. Some forum members have an earnest jones shareholder card which will give you 10% discount of any model. |

You can always get 10% on any gold/white gold model.
If you want a sports model pre order it and pick it up from Mappin & Webb at Heathrow - that way you can take off 17.5% VAT. Or simply just buy from one of the many trusted sellers here - sale2day, DavidSW, Mosco, bodybump, justrolexes etc etc etc etc good luck, and post pics of your purchase!!

I deal with Goldsmiths and when I bought my new Blue Sub ceramic (brand new model), I managed to get £500 discount. I know it's the TT model, but I was amazed to get anything off, bearing in mind they haven't been out for that long. However, I know the manager well and have bought many models from him. That, and the fact that it was in December (and, no doubt, the end of year's sales figs), may have eased his grip on price, to secure a sale. I managed to obtain discounts on all of my previous purchases - apart from one; when I bought my brand new TT GMT IIc (in 2008), I got no discount at all and, as Mark has said, got the standard 'we don't discount sports models' response, albeit put to me 'ever so nicely'.

hi & welcome to TRF. try the smaller, independent ADs for a better chance of discount, i managed to get 10% on my DSSD 5 weeks ago....the larger ADs are usually in the main high street with bigger overheads & are reluctant to give an inch on new SS sports models

Just before Christmas my mother in law got a new GMT IIc for £3900 cash at our local AD. Goldsmiths would give % interest over so many years but are not that keen to discount.

I have noticed that only in UK when you ask for a discount that salesmen start gaping at you as an alien visitor from Mars

here in London if you walk in and ask for a discount for a SS sports model, its like you have just humiliated the sales clerk's entire bloodline back to 13rd centure. I was ablt to receive a 10pc discount on a TT sub model. Even in Harrods offers 10pc off on all solid gold/plat. As other ppl said, you get much better odds if you deal with independant dealers or from TRF'ers here!! There are loads of great sellers here, however most of the bunch seem to be locaed on the other side of the atlantic. Since pound is more and less worthless and you have Her Majesty's Custom peeking into ur package.. Its harder for us to strike a good deal. Life is tough eh?!

If the sales assistant can't give you a discount, tell them that you would like to speak to somebody who can

I managed to get £1100 off my TT sub and £1200 off my TT Yachtmaster from my local AD. The did offer me 5% off a DSSD too. But I'm a reasonably good customer who has dealt with them for years and bought many pieces from them. They know that I'll keep buying and have indeed ordered a new 39mm Explorer from them. I think you need to build up a relationship with your local AD but there's no harm in trying.

I'm UK based and since the silly price rises of the last few years I refuse to buy without a good discount. I am both amused and irritated by the pained, expression of distaste and patronising refusal they give you as if you are new to Rolex and obviously just don't know any better.
I just smirk knowingly or nod earnestly at the well played charade rather than point out to them that as just a shop keeper they should avoid having a haughty air of superiority. A good AD might refuse you but he/she will not behave as if your request is unreasonable. Funnily enough the ADs that look so pained selling you a Rolex often behave quite normally when selling an Omega. How many sales Rolex loose because of this is anybodies guess. Of course, if you do buy an Omega then Swatch Group treat you with contempt at a later date when you try to get them to service the watch. |

Yup UK dealers are really stuffy when it comes to discount. However you have to get the right person, and the right AD. Mappin and Webb, W of S etc will generally all be trained just to say "NO DISCOUNT"
My advice is to only negotiate when you are a buyer. Go in and tell them you are here to buy RIGHT NOW if the price is right. They will generally take the business. If you walk in to talk about discounts but dont seem serious, they will palm you off. If necessary show the money or your credit card. Has ALWAYS worked for me on every Rolex.... Good luck :) |

depends on your relationship with your AD. But in general, there will be no discount on SS sport models in London/uk.
Be careful on buying outside the uk - you will most likely to get hit by the VAT and some admin charges through customs. Maybe worthwhie to check out some uk based online sellers, but check their warranty policy before parting your hard earned cash. Good luck. |

Hello Billy, I live in North Yorkshire, best I got was a hundred quid off a Sea Dweller a couple of years ago in Harrogate at Fattorinies, Berrys in York and Leeds will not discount, not for me anyhow, did notice 0% finance in Berry's in York yesterday, It used to be called Inglis and son, but I noticed that they have changed their signs, its down Stonegate, I think it is the only Rolex AD in York, they did have a DSSD in the window, as did Fattorinies of Harrogate a couple of weeks ago.
Leeds has a good selection of Rolex Ad's, Berry's, Goldsmiths and Owen and Robinson all in view of each other.

Posted yesterday bought a BNIB 16610LV [green] for £3500 from my AD , bought a DSSD off them in OCT .
Retail is £4070 so £570 off. The assistant had to ring Regional Manager to check and he said no but they had to honor the price they quoted. Get to know your local AD is probably the best advice i think.. Good luck.. |

Fattorini's in Harrogate I can recommend highly - they were willing to offer 10-15% on a datejust 41mm before they were even launched (steel). The goldsmiths in Leeds have been a perpetual displeasure to deal with for Rolex watches - they act as though a discount has never been given anywhere in this blue isle, and have forgotten how to smile. It is a constant hostile takeover with them when you go in to look at something. In spite of this, their window selection is usually pretty good for datejusts and gmts etc. Owen and Robinson coincidentally is owned by Berry's in Leeds, so I was told, and anything I see there (including AP, VC and some other exclusives) can be bought 'through Berry's' with their discount gestures. I cannot recommend the folks at Berry's highly enough.. They are my AD. |

The Three AD's in the City, WoS, M&W and Goldsmiths, are all part of the Aurum Group and no doubt have an unwritten agreement not to discount. Also trying to get discount on an in demand, read SS Sports, models in the West End is also hard work.
