My Daytona has the crown engraved at 9oclock instead of 6 oclock

and the thing is that i couldnt see the little "S" within the crown,is there anything wrong with that??
or is it just normal to hv the engraved crown at 9oclock?
plz see attrached pic
thx a lot

This does happen, I've seen it on a few models where the crystal has no cyclops.

If you are talking about the LEC, or the crown etched onto the sapphire crystal I believe that it will only have the "S" if it is a service replacement crystal.

It should be at 6 o'clock, but the Daytona does not have a date cyclops so the crystal could have been put on 90 deg out. its a simple fix, but one wonders why it is out of kilter in the first place. Who last serviced the watch?

btw, my eyes cannot see the LEC on your photo

Dont think it matters where it is on crystal some non cyclops models have it different positions. Its so hard to see with naked eye anyway so why worry where it is its not really all that important as long as its there.

LEC = Laser Etched Coronet, It could have been opened by anyone who knows what they're doing to be honest but I wouldn't worry yourself about it

Taking off and putting on a crystal is a specialised operation and not something generally done without good reason..

There is probably a method that Rolex uses to index the crown properly at the 6 oclock position, but sometimes the best method goes awry..

It is, however, of little concern except to your own sense of detail............ the crystal is exactly the same all around and functions regardless..

That is correct! The replacement crystal on my sub has the "S" inside the crown.

At the factory, does anyone know if the crystals are installed by hand or by machine (robot)?

i sent it back to rolex last year to do the polish, would they uninstall the crystal and installed it at the wrong position n without engravibg an "s" on it?
i had heard that the rolex centre would open the watch and check up everything inside is ok everytime people sent a watch to them to ensure it is an genuis one

thx

It's the same with my Sub with date, but there is the cyclop at 6 o'clock position.

They wouldn't engrave the S on the crystal. It would have the S if it was replaced (hence a service replacement crystal)
