Sunbad: The bad experience had nothing to do with Rolex or the watch. It is the fact, no doubt, that the salesman had to serve a customer he had no chance of getting any commission from. That probably made him unhappy. Or maybe his dog died. I do not know and he did not share. He just griped a lot. There was more but I edited the post for clarity. I think it is a training issue but I do not have to sit by and wait for them to get their people up to speed. I am not here for them.

well said Robert...
it's pretty much their problem; if they are alienating and petty with a known good customer how much worse are they treating new ones?

I totally understand Robert, When i first purchased my DJ, i walked in to an AD, and i had to ask about to try on the watch. The store was empty and they didn't really acknowledge me. Im 26 i wore a sweatsuit with some sneakers as well. So when she finally came over she had the nerve to ask me if i was "serious" I pulled out 10k in cash and said i was dead serious. So when she took out the watch for me to try on i said nevermind, and went to the next AD where i ended up making my purchase. I feel as if purchasing a rolex from an AD is an expierence just like eating at a nice restaurant. The service has to accompany the food, just as the service acompanies the watch. Im sure you will find a better AD that will treat you better!

I hope they aren't jerks to him... of course making him fly in from TX might already be a sign of that.

I have bought all my rolexs at jared. I bought 2 from the jared in citrus park and I bought my YM at the 1 in brandon. I am always treated well and I speak with the GM every time I am there. Nice guy as well. Mayors, I never get a good feel even when I walk in just to look. There always pushy and a pain in the ass. To bad you have to return the watch. You should def return it and tell them why your not happy. Try Jared out, they do give discounts and they have great service and they sell more Rolex then Mayors. |

Robert,
Sorry to hear about your bad experience . Buying a Rolex should ALWAYS be a great thing to remember.

I would have guessed they were playing at having all the marbles or something. You should definitely return it if you're going to remember their poor service. No need to have bad memories in regards to such a nice watch.

My rep there called me today and said the store mamager had a talking to with the folks who ignored me that night. I don't know what that means in the business world. Some people just should not work retail!

Robert,
You make some very good points, I agree that you are also buying the seller. As for me I too have had several issues with stupid sales people, and I know for myself realistically my salesperson loves me as long as I am buying, if I were to quit buying today I doubt they would even say hello in passing. I have decided who ever has the best price wins. I can always send my Rolex to a RSC. In regards to the serious buyer statement I was not trying to say you were not serious buyer or someone who could not be taken serious, I meant, I see (as we all do) allot of people buying Rolex who don't study the watch or know much about the company, the history, or the different Rolex lines. I have observed some AD salespeople for what ever reason seem to be more on their toes when someone walks in with an LV Sub, TT GMT II Aniv. or a SS Daytona. I do not claim or pretend to be a Rolex expert, I am not, but I know enough just enough to get into trouble. I too would love to buy platinum DD someday, for now it’s not in the cards for me. I would love to see yours when you get it later this year. I will keep my eyes open for an LV Sub.

Man I am lucky. I have a wonderful 2 generation family jeweler AD, 30 miles away from me in good old Grants Pass, Oregon, who treats one like royalty when you go in there. They obviously want your business for life, and they get it as well.
I was told that the Kermit was in limited production, and Rolex decides when to turn on or off the spicket. It is a beautiful watch. Rarity is a matter of abailabity. My AD only gets one Kermit a year. That is it. So there must be something to that. |
