Advice buying a GMT II c please!
Hello all
I am hoping to buy a GMT IIc from someone from the forums this weekend. I just wondered if anyone had any do's / don'ts before I hand the cash over? I'm thinking of any things to check on the GMT... things that may be wrong/ things to look out for/ check are in the right condition etc? Any advice would be really appreciated Thanks! |

buy the seller. as long as they have been around a while and have references it doesnt really matter if they are a quote unquote dealer on TRF or just a regular guy on TRF who wants to trade his GMT IIc because hes tired of it or whatever. dont worry too much just buy one and enjoy it.

I just bought one myself, it is pre-owned but virtually looks new.
I looked at several, and originally purchased a watch from an online company that was a TOTAL scam. I wanted to save money over a new one and kind of enjoyed the search for my "perfect" GMT. I posted a couple of "wanted" ads on Cragslist which didn't work out so well. I found a few advertised online for sale but local to me and I went to check them out. Getting to the point, the biggest issue (to me) other than significant "dings" in the case or band that were definitely deal killers, was the condition of the "triangle" at the top of the bezel. The first couple I looked at showed some slight scratches there - I don't know why, but it just bothered me. Finally found one that was good as new on the case and bezel but the band needed some slight scratches polished out, which was easily fixable by my local watch guy. My 2 cents |
