Going Nuts, running slow now......

I am going nuts with my SD. At first it was always run fast, brought it in and really no change. I really say the hell with it and stopped checking it. Now a friend just bought a Just Date and we got to talking so I re-set it on the 1st, on the 5th it was 4 seconds SLOW, now on the 11th it is 9 seconds SLOW. I wear it every day and wind it "just because" once a week 40 times. I don't have a auto winder, but place it FACE UP every night.

Is this normal ?? Should I forget the "+ or - 2 sec a month statement ?? My wife tells me just to wear it and enjoy it...... start woman. It just pisses me off that my 400 dollars Citizen Promaster has been on the money since 1998...... LOL

Normal? 9 seconds slow in 11 days? That's exceptional! Can't get much more accurate than that. Just enjoy that watch.

You do realize that these watches a fully mechanical and fluctuate on accuracy?

A citizen or any watch with a battery (quartz) will always keep better time.

Incidentally, not per month, but per day.

Wait...weren't you the guy who posted about the accuracy of your SeaDweller awhile ago? Your watch is running GREAT. COSC= -4/+6 seconds per day!!! I really don't see the point of worrying about mechanical watch accuracy with a watch that is running within COSC.

Most here would love that accuracy. Just enjoy it or...to use a watch forums cliche " if you care that much about accuracy, get or just stay with a quartz."

Not quite correct the COSC spec for any Swiss chronometer is a average of - 4 to +6 seconds over 24 hours. And to the original poster even the cheapest quartz watch will be far more accurate than any mechanical watch Rolex included. But look at it this way the escapement of a mechanical watch in 24 hours pushes the gears 432,000 times. Since a day has 86,400 seconds, even a watch that runs five minutes fast or slow each day has an accuracy of over 99.6 percent! A finer mechanical watch that gains or loses about six to nine seconds a day or about a minute a week has a breathtaking precision of over 99.992 %. Now this is still very high precision, given the fact that the movement is constantly affected by the earth's gravity, metal expansion and contraction, temperature variations, subtle changes in lubrication and friction, shocks, and so on.The fact is that no mechanical watch made will keep perfect time, very close yes but perfect no.So most Rolex out of the box are 99.994% accurate what more could anyone ask from a purely mechanical watch.

Jim, I agree with your wife, relax and enjoy the darn thing. That is fantastic accuracy for a mechanical watch, you do realise this right????? This is the beauty of a mechanical watch, they all have their own personalities. Some gain, some lose, some deviate when resting in different positions, it is all part of enjoying a mechanical movement.

If the accuracy is really going to bother you, seriously buy a quartz watch. Don't get wrapped up with the brand of the watch, just buy one that will make you happy. You have way to much money tied up in a watch that is bugging you because it runs just over a second a day off.
