1957 Submariner - Thoughts?
G'day all.
Does anyone have any views on a value for this 1957 Submariner 6536 once the strap was replaced? I'm not sure how much a strap would be but if anyone knows and could say, that would be helpful. I guess the bezel would have to be replaced too. Cheers, Sloth. |

It's always hard to give values based on pics, but the range if all original, should be between $12-15K.

You should be able to find a riveted band for between $500 - $1,000, depending on condition.
The value estimation is just my opinion and based on prices I have seen these listed for. Value will always be based on condition. |

I think the bracelet would be a 7206. Check with member Steve Mulholland, he may advise too. Looks nice.

What's your opinion on value once put in best possible condition? I'm relatively new to this forum so I'm not sure how I would get in touch with Steve. |

hey buddy,
nice watch..condition is key to any vintage piece.. are your numbers readable between the lugs?that is the most important consideration as far as the case is concerned..then the condition of the lugs,etc.. next we need to have a look at the dial..a nice gilt dial is 50% of the relative value. for a proper evaluation it would need to be thoroughly checked out for all of these factors and more. if you want to email me direct at [email protected] I can get you in touch with restoration experts near you if thats the route you are interested in taking,or if you would rather sell it outright I can help you there as well. good luck my friend! |

A beauty!!
Your correct bracelet should be a 7205 with 58 end pieces. Certainly others may fit. I think you should be able to buy a correct bracelet in very good condition in the $600 to $800 range. Be careful as many of these bracelets have been shortened. Original links are not always easy to get and are not easy to replace. I can't tell from your picture what is wrong with the bezel to require replacement. I would be very hesitant to do this unless absolutely necessary. Mark |

Looks ok but as steve said you need good case shots also, as rubbing and corrossion is common and dial close ups for a good idea.
The watch needs a big logo 7206 ( not a 7205 that's 19mm) which is a bit rare and probably more like £1k. Sevice bezel rather than red trinagle (£2k and up). I'd expect to see it £6-7k. The company you quote sell everythng at 2-3 times the going rate and rely on people not knowing, it's quite sad really, a mate met an old dear who was trying to sell a £700 datejust shed paid them nearly £3k for. |

Balboa, Jedly, thanks! Especially for the heads up Jedly.
I don't have the watch in hand to check. Offering to go out of your way to help me out is much appreciated. Thanks Steve. I reckon that old dear could have saved herself a few quid if she'd logged onto TRF! If I get the watch for the price that I now think is reasonable I will let you guys know. Have a nice weekend! Sloth. |

Balboa, while you are correct that many people in the past have taken 7205 bracelets and put 20mm endlinks on them to use with their 5508's and 6536's,they arent the correct bracelet..they should be 7206 bands.
I found 7 or 8 examples a few years ago that where configured that way so I did some research and it appears that when the original bands where stretched and unuseable it was common to take the last links off and put them on 7205 bands..so your not completely wrong..they where..lol |

I searched under Rolex Submariner 1957 looking for a value on this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT and I found this site. Looks like the dude is asking way too much, but it seems like I'm not the only one looking at a vintage submariner :-) This forum is a really cool idea by the way, love it. |

The watch on Ebay looks like the same watch pictured here. Somebody may be getting conned either Sloth ( the person selling it to him doesn't posses it) or us.
