Real or Fake
Hey guys.
I've been looking at getting a "Kermit" or anniversary edition Submariner and found this site. Look at the way "Rolex" is printed around the inside edge of the face. I've never seen a Submariner like that. Has anyone else? http://www.watch-network.net/rolex_ss_anniversary.htm |

That's called rehaut engraving, besides having "Rolex" printed in the inner ring, the serial number is engraved at the 6 o'clock position. This started with the late "D" series.

Thanks Renoir.
Not a bad price then... it works out at 2397 GBP for the watch in the link. I tried a brand new one on at the weekend in a jewelers near me. It looked the same as this to me, but without the engraving. It looked awesome. I'd always thought the Submariner was too big and would look stupid on my wrist but it like it a lot. |

The watch looks good. The question is, is it the sellers watch? Stolen pics, maybe? Price is too low.

I'd be running away from that one, same format as this site - luxurywrist.net
The only difference is the different stolen photos :-)

Spose i'll stay away then ;'(
I've seen one or two on eBay that look the part but I don't feel comortable handing over 3250 pounds to "some bloke." If the eBay watch was affiliated to a shop or something then fair enough. Sometimes I marvel at how easy it would be to sell a fifty pound replica in a "face to face" deal worked out on eBay and basically steal 3K from someone. I doubt the law would bother even trying to find the scammer. |

now don't confuse the o/p as he's new to this. O/p may not realize your saying that tongue in cheek.

Looks good, but the scratches would annoy me. It works out 3240.00 pounds, the one on Rebecca's is 3399.00 and comes from a proper shop. So I guess I'm better off there because of the peace of mind of the warranty and the free first service.
Looks like I'm going shopping! |

Prices on this site are way too low. Also, no contact info except email ! I would avoid this site if I were you.

Others from TRF have noticed this site before. I think some have even tested the waters by sending them an email.
You might want to take a look at their responses. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...=watch-network |

That's pretty damn good!
I'd say a lot of people must buy direct from guys advertising on TRF. I think people must be willing to take a leap of faith though. The scope for being scammed seems wide. Nothing against the seller. I am just talking generally as for me, it would be a worry. |

Yea - always have that worry - just have to trust the seller's track record...been on this forum for a few months now and haven't heard too many negative experiences...the scammers get weeded out pretty efficiently.

That site was registered three months ago. ZoneAlarm would not let it open unless I overrode several Zonealarm settings.
