Icon5 TUDOR - what to watch out for

Dear fellow TRFers!

I have the chance to buy a Tudor Tiger Prince. It has the white dial ( easily readable ) and the black non - turnable bezel. "Tiger" in Red.

Ref Nr 79260. Cal 7750, SN H2206XXX.

Is this a plastic ( read: acrylic ) crystal or a Sapphire crystal?

Are there any caveats, anything to look out for, any known problems?

Which Rolex end pieces would I have to use, to add a Rolex ( Oyster ) bracelet?

ANY input is welcomed!

Thanks in advance, Hermann

The H220xxx serial has a sapphire crystal. The correct end pieces for a Tudor 792xx chrono are #605.
I have a 79260 and have no issues. The 7750 is a great movement and accuracte also.

Good luck and post pics if you get it.

Thanks to all!!

It will not be in like - new condition, as it never has been polished.

What year of manufacture would that be"

Special thanks for the end links number: is that a Rolex end link or a Tudor? And would a Rolex Oyster bracelet fit?

Hermann.......brilliant watches, really....brilliant....had mine for just over three weeks and totally love it.....I have worn no other watch but a Rolex since November 1986....was never ever interested in any other brand.....but honestly, this ticks all the right boxes....mine is a 79280 with the polished/engraved bezel....it has been well cared for but I gave it the once over when I got it home.....very light polish and brush, then a very good bath....delighted with it would be a massive understatement......buy one you will not regret it....also bear in midn that the Tudor jubilee style bracelet (like mine wears) is very much more solid than the old style Rolex Jubilee bracelet.....feels like something between a solid centre link Oyster and a Jubilee if that makes sense.....I also love that far more than I ever expected......very very solid feeling with no rattles at all.....all in all a fantastic package for the money....in fact a steal for the money you can get them for.....

H22**** would put it around 2000/2001

Never polished doesn't necessarily equate to not new-like, so you'll know better once it's in hand; it really means there's lotsa meat left to polish and that some yahoo didn't just go buffing away like there's no tomorrow on your case.

It's a Tudor endpiece, while they're almost identical, Tudors have their own part numbers that would have the proper Tudor marks on the clasp, etc. The Oyster band for those models is a 78400 with a fold over clasp w/o fliplock. There's really no reason you couldn't use an older Oysterdate combo as the cases are actually the same size (thickness of 14mm) as the older "Big Blocks" even though they look to be different sizes due to the design.

A Rolex bracelet will fit, but given the large area the endpieces cover, it's almost a gimme that you'll get Tudor endpieces and as they're mostly sold in sets including the bracelet, there should be no need to get a separate Rolex band. There are a few posts where folks have used Rolex vs original Tudor parts to spiff up their Tudors so more power to you if you want to use a Rolex band that's got PCLs or polished sides or whatever. Have fun with it, they really are great timepieces.

I don't know too much about the Tudor market but if the watch comes with papers (I know.. It's not necessary - it's a nice-to-have - and the important thing is to authenticate it by other means) and if you can get the price down to say €1600 then this is possibly a bargain or at least a very good buy!

The only thing you need to watch out for is scratching the itch for another.
