One Wg Daytona or SS and TT
Just wondering what the consensus would be on having a beautiful Wg daytona or having two daytona's a SS and a TT. I looked at the prices and the Wg is coming out the same as getting a SS and a TT.
The Wg one I wore today was the white face Paul Newman with solid black subdials. I think its a tough call . |

Well, I personally think the WG looks great. But, despite the lower price point, I believe the SS remains far more exclusive.

How about the SS with a WG style dial.
Check Steve's thread.

SS Daytona + WG style dial
I thought a lot about this stunning combination as I was planning on a SS Daytona + Meteorite dial >>> My Rolex AD refused ! ...As AD's aren't allowed to change the Rolex design.. I asked about the reasons ? The answer was : This combination will impact on the WG model. .. Hard Luck !

I would go with a SS and TT over the WG. I love the WG but to be honest it is hard to even differeniate the WG from the SS by the casual eye.

Honestly... I would just get the SS... and get another watch... like the GMT2C.

+1 on the SS unless money is not a factor.

If money is not an issue, I would go to precious metals.

Get the WG - great looking watch, and you get true exclusivity, as opposed to perceived exclusivity with the SS Daytona. You might not be able to see SS Daytonas in the windows very often, but in my experience, they far outsell the TT or 18Ct models.

SS Daytona and TT GMTiiC might not be a bad idea.

The weight and feel of gold on the wrist provides a different tactile experience. Nothing quite like gold. There are a lot of SS Daytona's out there. Looking at this I'm actually tempted by a WG Daytona Greg (Mosco) has for sale; however, I'd have to give up too much steel to make that happen.
It should also depend on if you have other SS models in your collection.

WG. No question. Yeah, very few will know that it's gold, but you will. Plus the dial options on the WG are soo much better looking. My 2 cents.

I agree, I found this very surprising with the WG Sub. But there really is a difference to the "touch." So, my choice is the WG! |
