If you have a need for the 2nd time zone go GMT, if not the YM is headed for a collectors stats.

It's just hard to beat the GMT for a do anything watch (strong bias).

I've gotten close to getting a YM so many times, but end up getting gun shy at the last minute.
My main concern has been its perceived fragility - easy to scratch PCLs and the expensive to replace bezel insert. If these don't bother you, then go for the YM.

Both are nice watches. Pick the one you like the most and get the second when you can.

There are no real pros and cons for either watch...........
It simply boils down to choice................

I was pondering the same question and went with the SS YM. I haven't regretted it for a second. I still look at it on my wrist and think to myself "this is a beautiful watch."
Before getting it, I was a little concerned it would be too flashy and couldn't be worn well with casual clothes. I've found that though it sparkles, it's not "blingy" and works with everything from suits to basketball shorts and a tee shirt. Scuffing the bezel is a concern. I wear it daily, but I work in an office. I take it off if I'm working in the garage or similar activities where it might get scratched. I'd consider how you plan on using/wearing it as one factor in your decision. I like the GMT, I'd like to get as my second Rolex eventually. But I'll say this for the YM. For me at least, pictures on the internet, as good as they looked, couldn't compare to how good it actually looked on my wrist. Finally, if you're looking at it as an investment, I think a platinum YM holds its value a bit better than the GMT, and you don't see as many pre-owned YMs for sale. That's purely anecdotal from my observations when I was looking to buy, I'm no expert by any means. Having said all that, I don't think you can go wrong either way. Just go with whichever one you think you really want more. |

So, you can tell by now both watches have their boosters. Have you tried both on to see which one you like best?

Just flipped my YM and replaced it with a GMT II...I also have the gmt 2 C..... So in my totally biased gmt loving opinion....it has to be the gmt
I simply found I wasn't wearing the ym...the gmt is a watch wearers watch...if you get my drift.

Yachtmaster, goes well with anything and very different from any other Rolex or brand. Just about every watch company has a SS watch with a black bezel and dial.
