Deepsea vs LV

I'm only going to able to get one of these two and I can't make up my mind on what to get. I love the bracelet and clasp on the deepsea but my wrists are small at 7in and I fear the deepsea may be too big on me for daily wear. The LVs size might be a better fit for me but I really can't get over the bracelet, it just feels so underwhelming to me. If I get the LV I will also pick up a black bezel to switch out with the green from time to time. So which do you all think would be better for daily wear?

LV. And this from a Panerai guy. My Panerais don't get much wrist time - they're too bulky, present and in-your-face for work. While I love the look of the Deep Sea, I personally could not wear it to work without feeling a bit self-conscious. If subtlety or versatility is a factor, I say LV. If you don't mind big/bulky/blingy, then DS!

Oh, btw, I wear my SD 99% of the time.

I wear a 16610 and it feels fine during the day. I've tried on a DSSD at an AD and found it too bulky for my tastes. Others love it, so it will be based on how it feels to you. Changing out the bezel works for alot of folks; it's been stated by some it gives them the feel of having two watches, switching from green to black and vice versa. Good luck in your decision.

Is value for money a consideration?

If yes, then you can't beat the Deepsea - because of its relative unpopularity, ADs (and grey dealers) sell it at a good discount (around 15% new). Its Glidelock isn't found on any other watch - the ceramic Subs have a different Glidelock - which makes it very comfortable to wear.

I'm not sure whether you could get the same deal with the LV now that it's to be replaced with the greener LV. And after having seen the Deepsea's bracelet and clasp, I agree with you that the LV's is underwhelming.

However, wearing comfort and appearance is all subjective so best to try on both watches for as long as possible, then sleep on it for a couple of days before making a firm decision.

You really can't go wrong with either.

Having had no regrets with my LV, I would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone considering a purchase.

The main issue with the Deepsea (I have one) is the weight, it comes in at something like 214 grams. Even if the new bracelet is fantastic, that is still a lot of weight on your wrist.

LV is a no-go for me because a) I'd get bored of the green, and b) I'd much rather wait for the new Submariner coming this Fall.

My advice would be to get a minty 16600 Sea-Dweller -- the best of both worlds!

I own both watches and you can flip a coin. The Deepsea is “Bad ass”. The maxi dial, ceramic dial, the glidelock, the blue lume, and size that actually has a purpose to meet its depth rating vice size for fashion are all really cool factors. The watch is comfortable. My wrist is 7 ¼” and I have no issues wearing the watch. With asking prices ranging from $6,700 to $7,300 for a watch that retails at $9,250 they do seem like a bargain. It certainly looked good on the Sunday’s Lost prequel to “The End” when actor Daniel Dae Kim was sporting his.

The LV is the perfect watch. Perfect weight (you can run with it on, the Deepsea is irritating after five minutes or so), and the maxi dial is an absolute classic. Fits well under a sleeve, and doesn’t demand the attention the Deepsea does. Although the LV is not discounted as much from the MSRP as the Deepsea, with used prices in the $4,500 to $5,200 the difference in price between the Deepsea is not insignificant. Lot more LV’s out there then Deepsea’s. However, as I stated at the beginning the Deepsea is "Bad Ass".

The DSSD is too big for most people, even those who are convinced it isn't. And it sounds like you're not convinced. Get the Sub.

If you're unmoved by the olde worlde charm of the current Submariner bracelet, how about waiting a few months for the new Sub? There's even a new LV (though it won't be practical to switch to black).

My 7 inch wrist loves the DSSD. I've worn it almost every day since I bought it nine months ago.

Go for the LV, if you want a big watch go for the "real" one... Panerai

you have a PAM111..I would think you would be fine with the DSSD
that bracelet on the Subbie is a workhorse and should not be a deterrent...that green bezel may be more of an issue...

If you get tired of the green bezel, switch it out to a black one.

DSSD all day My wrist is about 6.5/6.75 and I love it. I wear it casually however as it does not fit under cuffs. I had an LV and flipped it... Loved the green and I know again I am in the minority here but I hate the old clasp, have had it for years and was ready for something new2.

Always go with the one YOU like better, for whatever reason. Try them both on at the same time and you will know which one you want. Others really can't decide this for you.

I have both and love weight and size of the DSSD but think the LV is more aesthetically pleasing. I typically cuff my sleeves so the DSSD size is not an issue. The LV is a more versatile watch and the green is mesmerizing to me. It's a shame they can't replicate that shade of green on the new LV-C.

In short, the DSSD feels better while the LV looks better IMHO.

Woah!! Sent you a PM on this but not sure it went through as it's not showing up in my sent folder. I just paid $8,325 out the door for my new V series DSSD from an AD in HI. I feel suckered! Are these prices for new watches from an AD?

Both are great watch, but I would get the LV just because you will have the chance to get a DS down the road but the LVs are done...

For a small wrist, i would go for the LV. That's what i did.

i didnt go for the sub because of the date window i not keen on the it.

i glad because i love my deepsea!!
