Is the Daytona a girl's watch?
Seriously, it seems like I keep seeing photos of ladies wearing Daytonas all over the place.
Sandra Bullock, Elle MacPherson, January Jones, Tara Reid, Victoria Beckham, etc., etc... What gives?

I feel like this issue has been brought up time and time again. In fact, see just a few days ago: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=131540. Some people will weigh in and say that 40mm is a man's watch. Some will say that times have changed and 40mm is too small. The vast majority of people will say that there is no such thing as a "man's" or a "woman's" watch, and recommend that people should just wear what they like.
Personally, I think the Daytona is gorgeous so there is no wonder why people of both sexes would wear it. I have a bigger wrist, so I would love it if the Daytona was a little bit bigger, but my 7.5+ inch wrist isn't normal for the general population so I think Rolex has it about right with the size. |

these threads are getting wearisome. maybe we could have a sub-forum called "is this a girls watch?" interested parties could endlessly debate a most uninteresting horological topic.

The Daytona has become a uni watch. The tapered 40mm bezel is softer than say a SD or Sub's higher sharper edge. I think the ladies like the softer tapered edge. The fact that Rolex is painfully dragging its heels and not making their watches larger doesnt help either.

To quote Rolex :
The Daytona is a driver's watch. Women drive too so there you go. Please, no "women driver" jokes or I'll have to ban both you and myself for bring the matter up in the first place.

The people who are concerned about this, apparently thinking it's usurping their...
manhood, need to recognize that women wear these watches lately Because they are mens' watches. It's the look nowadays. Women wearing articles of mens' apparel has long been considered provocative and sexy, and this is no different. Relax and enjoy it.

It's a great sign that the Daytona is an excellent reference when it looks great no matter whose wrist it's on.

Whoever wants to wear it can wear it--as long as one can afford it that is!

The daytona is a killer watch... It is geared towards men but can be worn by the ladies.
