<-------- Proud owner of one of the first subs with the engraving (Z serial). It's a part of the watch, so I like it.

I also happen to have a Submariner, a "V" series in my case, ROLEXROLEXROLEXROLEX rehaut and the laser engraved "Coronet" on the lower portion of the sapphire crystal, which by the way, does anybody knows since when the crystal has this feature? Did I also mention that the bezel on mine has a greenish tone?
And I love it!

well the only Rolex I have with the rehaut engraving is my Millie....i guess that's why I don't find it overly obtrusive.

I wouldn't have noticed one way or the other until I saw this thread.

My "M002xxx" Submariner LV has a smooth rehaut, no Rolex or serial number. Now that I notice it, I like it smooth. But my GMT Master II Ceramic hadthe RolexRolexRolex and it never bothered me.

What did end up bothering me before I sold it was my Deepsea rehaut advertising "original gas valve" That got to be a bit much.

Personally, I think it's tacky but I'm in the minority.

I believe the LEC started in the F series which would be 2004, while the engraved rehaut came out in the M series for some references, while others had it late in the Z series. Just a bit of Rolex being Rolex.

Not sure about the greenish tone though. Might be the light source, or a reflection?

Hope this helps.

You have to look close to see the engraving. I personally like it, but I am partial because I own a new model. I will buy an older model soon.

BE careful. I saw fake rolex with this feature, so counterfeiters are catching on fast. FYI
