significant others and swapping watches!

so most of you know, Im getting married in august of this year. My dear lovely wife to be catherine, gets extremely angry at me for selling and buying watches. does your significant other get p'oed at you for doing this?

I have sold both my rollies and bought 1 pam, in the near future I plan to add a 111I into my collection to make up for the LV. But the Mrs. Says thats it! no more buying and swapping...she also got mad at me for selling my lexus is250 and getting an X3 sport....what gives

is this how married life is going to be?

My wife is in total support of my watch activities. I use my own money, I don't flip them (they are purchased as keepers) and I always keep her in a Rolex or two as a hedge (just in case).

Is this how married life is going to be?

I dont think you have a clue.....remember when you used to say to yourself, I think I am going to do this or that?

Now you need to ask for permission.

UNLESS you would rather ask for forgiveness.

The best thing a married couple can do is have children. I have 4 and I love them more than life itself!

Wife is quite supportive and daughter is also.
Luckily (???) they are also into watches. I have had to pony up a "premium" to her on the occassional purchase, but I factor that into the price.
Now, on the flipping/trading side, I get even more support.
I was told " you can only sell them, if you replace them". I was floored.
So I have done a 2 for 1 just recently. I'm pleased with this one, but not too early to tell on the next move.

editorial comment - Daren, you have taught me well

Yup, and more.. There is an awful lot of (attempted) convincing, cajoling, discussing, scheming going on, on my part. When I bought my SD last year it was tough but seeing as my Seamaster was a bit of a wreck there was obvious justification..
Six months later, I started showing a few piccies of some PAMS, fortunately I'd sewn the seed when we went to Italy, pointing a few out so she recognised them. She said 'Yes they were nice, looked different from the SD' (and cheaper).
Then came the plunge - better to ask for forgiveness than for permission (when it comes to purchases!), that's my motto.. So I broke the news last night that I'd splashed out, not a happy bunny I'll tell you that.
I had included a nice pair of pearl earrings in the purchase plan - she saw right through that one, a holiday - a little bit of acceptance.. When I said it was made from Ti - that was it, got the look and the stony silence..
It's not that bad though, all good fun, I think the next one might cost me a diamond ring...

So I would stress too much, after all when you do get what you want it'll seem all that much sweeter

I'd love to tell you it gets better, but from my own experience, it doesn't! And I'm in a different position - I'M THE WIFE BUYING THE WATCHES! How's that? Heehee! I drive my husband up the wall!

I have been married since last February, my wife doesn't like it when I buy video game systems and electronics but have no issue with watches, jewelry, or clothing.

My car got stolen a few months back and we have been looking to buy a new car, actually I bought one for my parents and we have been using their old car for the time being, we both like the LS460 but I want the longer one and she want the regular one. I am going to leave that alone for now.

During the week, we went shopping and she didn't like it when I leave her at tiffany's and I went across the street to wempe to look at watches. She doesn't share my interest in watches but I did went back and pay for her silly bracelet, she is all giddy afterwards.

Always get her something that she wants whenever you buy yourself something, that way you can distract her from your purchase.

Once married trust me when I say there is no such thing as 'I bought it with money from my own account'.
Make your most important decision before the wedding day or accept the situation from then on.
On any given day a 'quid pro quo' gift will buy some time but in the cruel light of day things will return to normal.
'Normal' has to be your wife's absolute support in all that you do.

ec. 3rd wife - 8 kids.
