I've been wearing my watches a bit tight in the past, but now I like them a bit looser. As summer came along I've had to adjust all my bracelets quite a bit as my wrist swells up in the heat...

Like JJ said. I hate anything tight - even my clothes have to be comfortable.

Tight Bracelet
I prefer to wear mine tight for 2 reasons:
1-It reduces wear & extends the life time of the bracelet (Because the tension on the links is always aligned not angled) 2-It better transfers the hand movements to the rotor of the watch.. result, is better winding the movement.. (Simple Physics !)

I feel that you should wear your braclet in a way that is comfortable to you, and allows you to enjoy the watch the most. So what if your braclet lasts only 20 years instead of 40. At the end of the 20 years put your old watch in the safe for the memories, and start the adventure over with a new one!
PS. Do always keep the braclet clean thought, thier is nothing nice about a braclet with bodily "grease" growing on it. |

I think my preference is somewhere between tight and loose. I have a GMTIIC and my wrist is "6.9. With 4 links on 6 side and 6 links on 12 side the watch is snug with some movement easy link folded in and spring bar in last notch. With temperature and activity level rising my wrist swells to "7 and above needing easy link to be folded out. This gives enough space to compensate for swelling and sweating of wrist. I have been considering to add a link on 12 side for summer period since the easy link is pretty much folded out all the time. This would require re-setting the spring bar to first notch and folding easy link in.

I wear my watch snug enough NOT to move so you can read the time!
Some people prefer to think of their watches as jewelry bracelets and wear them loose. Looks funny and like a girl to see a guy with his watch up his forearm and on the inside of his arm. Jennifer Atison like! |
