Pam Question/Advice
I am interested in purchasing another Panerai. I only have 1 and it is the 312. I was interested in the following models. The 243, the 88 and the 251. I would appreciate your thoughts and input about the above models as well as any others that you folks might think would be a nice addition. Pictures are welcome.

The 243 is sweet! I used to have one. Another SUB some like is the 305 and the main difference is the dial, 47mm vs 243'a 45mm. The 305 is also Ti. 88 is a great piece, but is produced in relatively high numbers compared to some other PAM's.
All the above said, buy what jumps off your wrist and screams in your face!....

Of the ones you mentioned I like the 243. I think a sub would be a good addition for variety. Though the 88 and 251 are interesting, I find the dials don't fit well with the history (just my opinion ... tastes of course will vary).
Have you considered a Radiomir? A 210 or 183 are good starting points or you can just jump into the deep end with an old 190! I personally am looking forward to the 338 Radiomir at 42mm. |

Thanks guys, I have a seamster ploprof and that is why I am not sure about the 243. I really like the 212 but I don't know if they make those anymore. But the 251 seems to be speaking to me. Keep those suggestions coming!

The 243 is an awesome piece and to be honest would be my choice over a 305.
The 88, while a "common" reference (as Panerais go) is a true GMT unlike the newer inhouse references and would make a great complement to the 312. I don't have a white face, but the 250, while possessing a dial some feel is busy, has become one of my favorite pieces. A very easy to read chrono, some feel it wears a bit bigger due to the shape of the pushers. |

Well I am biased on this one. I have owned three different black faced PAM's 164, 212, 088....but the 251 is my favorite one. It is very unique to the brand with the white dial, made in limited numbers, and looks great with almost any color strap!!!!! Also, the Hollywood history behind this model with Sylvester Stallone and all is kind of cool too!!! I cannot tell you how many friends or strangers have asked to buy the watch from me...the answer is always the same...get your own;-)
Good luck with your choice!! |
