A trip to 2 Rolex AD's later.....
Hi all,
My wait for my First Rolex is now over :D I was initially after a TT Blue 16613 but as it's been long discontinued it's near impossible to find one anywhere in AD's and the ones that had them refused any discount... Then I was browsing the forum's and I saw pics of the 16610LV and thought "That looks pretty nice with the Green Bezel and Maxi Dial" and also felt I'm a bit too young to be wearing a TT and that I'll be wearing it daily, the Gold will mark easier than non polished Steel. I knew 2 AD's relatively near me had a LV in stock, so off I went to one of them, had a look at it etc etc and asked about Discount, the young chap said he'll talk to his boss and I was told that as the LV is discontinued he wouldn't budge on the price, so I pollitely said thanks for your time and I'll think about it. Then I decided to drive down to my other AD (which is further away) to look at there LV, I visited them before enquiring about 116613's but told them I fancied a SS Sub for the above reasons. Again I was told they wouldn't budge on the price, they moved a little, thats when I said last week your boss said he'd give me 5% on it, so she had a chat with him and agreed a little bit more than 5% discount and I managed to get them to give me a Black Bezel insert aswell . So a few min's later, my bank balance is a fair bit lighter but I'm now a proud owner of a Rolex Submariner 16610LV with a V serial Excuse the picture but it was a very quick one and my room is a bit dim If I was to stumble upon a BNIB 16613 for a sensible price I still wouldn't say no though ;) 2 questions though, 1)Should the Bezel move by itself or does it only move if I turn it anti clockwise? If someone can actually tell me how the Bezel works I'd appreciate it! 2) My crown doesn't line up upright when it's fully tightened, is that a issue with the watch or nothing to worry about and its a case of a QC issue? Sorry for the dumb questions :) Needlesss to say though, I'm really pleased with the watch and the Green Bezel has really grown on me. |

First of all, congrats on your new rolex! 1.) the bezel only moves when you move it in counter clock wise and is used as a timer. Simply allign the arrow on the bezel to the minute hand and as minutes pass the bezel will indicate how many minutes have passed. This is useful while scuba diving underwater and timing how much air you have left over. 2.) Thats normal :) |

Congratulations! The LV is a great reference.
As mentioned, the bezel works as a timer, and should rotate counter-clockwise only. I also wouldn't worry about the crown not pointing upwards. That's a camera trick by photographers where they loosen the crown until it's aligned.

Congrats on your 1st Rolex!
As mentioned previously, the bezel only moves counter clockwise. If you ever use it for diving, you wouldn't want the bezel to accidentally move clockwise. Of the watches I have & had, only one aligns properly (not spot on but close enough) - that's the SD. |

If you're still looking for the 16613, check the for sale section here. I've bought two watches there without issue while saving some coin... |

congrats on your lv. as stated above, the rotating bezel is unidirectional and serves as a timer, which is different than the gmt. the alignment on the crown is pure luck. out of all my rolex watches i own/owned, only my first rolex was had the upright crown. my 16760 fat lady does, too, except it's upside down...
