Perplexed! GMT Master or 16710?
Hi all, newbie here.
I am thinking of getting a GMT. Considering this one but am perplexed at the model... ROLEX Mens GMT MASTER DATE Quick-Set Steel Watch 16710 http://cgi.ebay.ca/ROLEX-Mens-GMT-MA...item5888975c0c It says 16710, cal 3185, but dial says GMT Master! What do you guys think? Any comment about the seller Interwatches? Thanks |

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!
You are correct, if the model is 16710, it should be a GMT Master II. It is possible the dial was replaced at some point. Here is a little history: http://www.gmtmasterhistory.com/gmt-...ref_16710.html |

Have to agree, dial was replaced sometime ago.
But why didn't they use a replacement dial like an RSC would? RSCs have been known to replace with a newer dial, not an older, reference incompatible one like this. Implies the use of an indie watchmaker for a relatively recent reference. Nothing wrong there, but now you have to check the cred of the indie.

The bezel color separation at the 6 looks a bit off center to me .

If it doesn't add up, it doesn't add up.
I'd walk, strike that, run! dP

Agreed. I walked away from it. In fact I checked other auctions of the same seller. I think they are very fancy watchmaker who put watch together from donor parts and sell for profit. Nothing wrong, just not my kind of tea.
