Dilemma: What if DSSD bracelet gets wider next year?
I like wide bracelets and DSSD's bracelet seems thin compared to its case.
That brings me to my fear: If I spend the big bucks now on the DSSD and next yr they widen the bracelet, then I am screwed... I also like thicker cases and another 2mm-4mm on the DSSD case thickness would be awesome... Is bracelet widening a possiblity in the future? what about the case getting thicker in the future? |

Perhaps wait until next year and see what comes out from Rolex?
Not that I would have the will-power to wait lol M |

Anything is possible for next year, i think the bracelet is just the right size for the DSSD. I would take a look at it in person and try it on it see if you like it.

I suspect any changes such as a wider are very unlikely. JMHO.

I don't think Rolex did such bracelet dimensions adjustments in the past, ever. I don't think they'd start next year.

Bracelet
I do not think that Rolex will change the bracelet on the DSSD, because it is perfect as it is.
I am happy that Rolex does not join the XXXLarge community with WRISTwatches you could easily mount on a church tower and still read the time.... Regards Tom |

I don't believe Rolex will change the bracelet, if you look at the history so will Rolex not admit they have made a watch with wrong bracelet.

You'll drive yourself crazy thinking like this, just buy the darn thing if you want it.
Having said that, Rolex will never make the DSSD bracelet wider because it would become too heavy (it is already 85-ish grams on a 215 gr package) and would also make it too stiff and not comfortable. You can trust the Rolex engineers didn't taper that bracelet by mistake. |

There has been some lucid discussion of an intermediary Sea Dweller possibly coming out, though purely on the speculative side. Alledgedly, the reference numbers seem to have an unusual gap between 16600 and 116660, leading to some juicy internet gossip.

I bought an omega seamster ploprof because the bracelet is too thin on the sea dweller deep sea. Heck I have a dj2 and I find the bracelet is too thin and tapers way too much. I would not hold my breath for any changes.....rolex just introduced these models and they are not quick to make changes.

don't think so
I really don't think that is going to happen. As someone mentioned above, Rolex has never done that before. So go for it and buy it as is. I owned one and the bracelet was great!

Don't worry about something that hasn't happened yet! Rolex is very slow to change anything... just look at their past record!

They won't do it, the whole reason why Rolex have fitted a tapered bracelet on the DSSD is so that the removable links are the same size as ones on other Oyster bracelets. It makes sense from a manufacturing and aftersales point of view

You never know but my guess is . . .
No way do they widen the bracelet (even though IMHO this would be a fantastic idea). |

Rolex will make NO changes to this model for years. It's new, and Rolex moves very slooooowly. For what it's worth my AD says they sell slowly, and he thinks they will come out with a "classic" updated SD that's a bit smaller. I think he's wrong, but who knows. |

In my short time as a WIS it is clear Rolex releases new designs slowly and deliberately. No fast moves.
Cannot see the Dssd bracelet changing. |

The bracelet is perfect. There is no need for a wider bracelet as it would look and feel disproportionate. This watch was in development long before they released it so get used to it the way it is...

I agree with you that the bracelet is disproportionate to the eye. However, on the wrist that is not a problem. It balances well. Additionally, because the Glidelock clasp is a fairly complex bit of engineering for a clasp, with the top adjustable lever already machined to an existing width, I wouldn't expect a change anytime soon.

I'd have to agree that the dssd is top heavy, and the standard bracelet is small compared to the head..I personally would highly recommend a wider bracelet for it.
However, I would also have to agree with the others, rolex didn't do any bracelet size adjustments ever, so I dunno if they would do it in the future.. But hey, anything is possible right? |

I would be amazed if that happened - Rolex don't usually make that sort of change 'on the fly', and the DSSD is still a recent model by Rolex standards.
