I've been toying between a Submariner, Explorer 1 (I like its simplicity), or a Datejust exactly like yours for my first Rolex...after seeing those pics I'm 90% sure it's the Datejust. I still can't 100% make my mind up though as it will probably be my one and only watch for all time (no pun intended!).
The blue looks good also but you might get fed up with it after a while as the champagne dial is just classic. As for the date it is called a "Roulette Wheel" and shows black on even, red on odd numbers and I would imagine that is something you would have to have added. |

took it for a dial change. I managed to see and try the watch with the exact blue dial today, and decided it was the one for me.... a bit more of an unusual and personal combination to my mind, a bit retro and less "common" plus the blue does look really nice! I doubt I will, but if I do get fed up with it, then I can always change again at some point (albeit having to pay for a new dial, which is about £200 I think at the moment) I'm prepared to take that on board if necessary down the line but, as I said, this combo definitely "speaks to me" as a more personal choice than the classic champagne. Will be ready mid next week.... will post pics! |

Definitely go for the DJ - to my mind it's the most perfectly balanced watch there is (classic, timeless, robust, touch of luxury, honest, sports, dress.... you get the picture!)
I too will only have one watch, and this is the ONLY one that fits ALL my requirements. |

I decided that if the red/black wheel "comes" with the blue baton (i.e. if I had bought the watch originally with this dial, it would be there), I would get them to change out the date wheel too. I'm not that bothered either way really, but I guess it's more "authentic" to have the red/black with this dial. |

love the slightly "70's" look. I think I prefer to have something a bit different to the norm, while still (of course!) remaining a classic. |
