88 or 297?
Hello Everyone,
I'm new so I hope I don't ask anything too stupid. I like the 88. As I understand it, if I get a 297, I can change the bracelet to straps, however the converse is not true. You cannot add a bracelet to an 88. If this is the case, then getting a 297 gives me greater flexibility, right? Are there downsides to getting the 297 over the 88? Thanks!!! |

Welcome to TRF. Better to start with a bracelet model and switch to a strap when you feel like it, then attempt the other way around. So out of these two I would say 297.

297 sounds like the more practical

I don't know much about PAM's, but I would guess that only difference would be the seconds sub dial.

You are correct Joe - the 297 has a black subdial, the 88's is silver (I slightly prefer the black, especially with a bracelet)

I'm in the bracelet camp as well. Much better to go that route while adding straps later.

I believe that if your 88 is a J series or newer (new strap release), then the new style bracelet that comes on the 297 will fit your watch. So, although an expensive proposition, you may be able to have the best of both worlds.
Having had both watches, I can tell you that there is a bit of magic to the look of the 88. For some reason its a bit more endearing. But, I love the bracelet.... |
