I can't believe this happened! I was in my bathroom on Saturday, getting ready to shower. As I was taking off my shirt, one of the spring bars that connects the rubber strap to the clasp came off! Yep, you guessed it, my Tudor proceded at 9.8 m/s squared until it hit the tiled floor. After I revived, I carefully scrutinized my baby. Watch still ticking... check! Crystal... check! No damage. Scratches... check! None that I could see. Oh crap! What's this on one of the lugs??? A dent!

Well, fortunately, it was in an area I could fix, so I brought it to work today and removed the dent and polished it. All better now. I assessed the problem. The rubber was actually "pulling" on the spring bar just enough to dislodge one end from the hole on the clasp. Solution: I bent the clasp inward just a tad where the holes are, so now, even if the rubber pulls on the spring bar, it will not be enough to dislodge the spring bar.
What have we learned? When you buy a $20 strap, you GET a $20 strap.

That's a nightmare, Mark !

And that's my favorite watch in your collection for sheer coolness. But you had to get that black strap even though the white looks so fantastic. Oh well, thankfully it wasn't worse, damage-wise. Thank heavens it wasn't a satin finish on the lug,

You can be sure, the white strap is going back on tonight! Thankfully I wasn't water skiing or something like that when this happened!

Well that sucks, Mark.

looks like you've been able to repair nicely.

I've been enjoying the silicon and rubber straps on my Tudor chrono and SAR. They wear great in the summer.

I don't think it's a matter of quality as it is the pliability of the material. You have to make sure the fail points are not effected by the movement of the strap.
Your experience is a good reminder to us all.

The white strap makes the watch, IMO. Obviously not an all-occasion look, but very striking in a recreational setting, like water skiing or golfing, etc. I may actually need to get one 'cause I like it so well.

Mark, you are lucky! No major damage, plus you have the polishing machine!!!!

........put the original strap back on asap & if you want black, get the same perforated strap from Tudor in black...I think it'll look great!
P.S. One word for you....plastic (A Casio for water sports.)

I could have completely removed the dent, but I didn't want to take away any more metal. I just wanted to blend it in a bit.

A good thing all was fixable and not in pieces on the floor Mark!!

I hope the fix on the bracelet works and more hours can be spent on that strap....Although you probably won't trust it now will you!!

I have an aftermarket rubber strap on my 'Tiger' 79270 Chrono and I don't like it either.
I'll be replacing it with a leather strap soon.

Not a good experience at all.
I'll keep this experience in mind if I ever get tempted to go rubber aftermarket.

It is my wish that a lesson be learned here, as some of you have already said. If you're going to buy aftermarket, put it to the test before wearing it! Twist it, pull it, stretch it, just to make sure.
