Incoming 88
A few weeks ago I got a taste of the dark side...and I liked it! I'm now the proud owner of a LNIB Pam 88 w/ all the cards and extras. I got it from an AD. Thanks to the knowledge I gained on this forum, I was able to obtain a great deal on a great watch. The 88 is an early b-day gift to self...and to prove to self that I'm mature (not!), I'm not gonna wear it until my actual b-day next month. I went directly from the AD to my bank to place the watch in my safe deposit box. However, I can't contain my excitment. I had to tell y'all...my wife gave me the evil eye when I told her I bought another watch. Anyway, I have attached a flick from the Panerai website so that I don't violate the "this thread is worthless without pictures" rule! Please don't flame me for not posting my own pictures...my photography skills suck, plus the watch -- for the time being -- is no longer accessible. I hope that in my attempt to abide by one rule, I didn't unknowingly violate another (unwritten) rule.
But who cares...I have my first Pam! Yeah, baby! |

Here's hoping that your b-day gets here quickly
I think you'll really like the 88. I wear mine at least a couple times a week. My 270 is my favorite, but the 88 really has a unique look to it that sets it off from the others, IMO. Enjoy |

Thanks very much, Ken. I have a little over 3 weeks until the B-Day. I can't wait to break out the 88 while enjoying good company, a 24 oz. porterhouse and a neat single malt!

Wow, that's impressive you are able to resist wearing it for a few weeks after you have it in your hands. Congrats on your new watch and I'm sure you'll enjoy it even more after you have it on your wrist.

Congrats on the 88, it's the watch for me that gets the most notice (and usually compliments) in the wild...

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. In fact, today is my actual birthday! The first thing that I did this a.m. was to put on the PAM after not even looking at it for roughly one month. I was then treated by my lovely wife to a professional massage. I highly recommend them. I stripped down to my watch and a robe (sorry for the imagery...a physical specemin I am not!) and proceeded to thoroughly enjoy myself. The only down side was that the masseuse told me to take off my 88. I did so begrudgingly. Anyway, tonight I look forward to a nice meal with my family and cupcakes made by my 6 and 8 year old daughters. A great day.
By the way, this watch is HUGE. It will take a while to get used to...but I'm sure I can do it. Happy Bastille Day to all my French brethren. Cheers, Darin |

Thank you. I've quickly come to realize that the strap shopping can become addictive. I already have my eye on a black 'gator and a dark brown/cordovan 'gator. Very impressive. Makes the watch look completely different. Kinda like changing the bezels on my GMT II from pepsi to black and back again...but the PAM straps cost more than the Rolex bezels!
