I guess going to a watchmaker, (or do it yourself) to have a watch checked out is now history.

That's a good one man....most of the ADs I have met are
not good enough to authenticate a g-shock....

We must admit that the tradition lives on .... Mr. Wilsdorf was a master in marketing . I see that the add doesn't say anything about most of the AD's staff

Relax guys, I 've seen bigger lies in my life, lol ... there is too many places where you can buy a fake and not everybody who's buying Rolex is a watch expert so decision to go and buy Rolex watch from AD for a regular expensive watch buyer is a very good one. Buying a watch on the internet or eBay is always a risk, sometimes small but always a risk.

Remember it take 12 months to make a Rolex Oyster watch you really should believe everything Rolex tells you even the marketing hype.

12 months to make, but only 3 weeks to service!

Well you would be very lucky to get a 3 week turnaround for a service at many RSCs.And considering even a 3 week turnaround and the many who think Rolex watches are all handmade. They sure must have a huge workforce of watchmakers to make them at around 800000 a year, if it takes now 3-4 weeks just to service one of them, perhaps they should employ a few more service robots.

Indeed , last I heard was about a friend in France taking in his Rolex at one of Nice's AD's . They told him , that they are no longer allowed to authenticate there and then and they would have to send it off to Rolex in Paris .. and it would cost about that . What a rip off .

Last time I went to Rolex France in Paris it was early January this year , I met up with a friend who had gotten a 116520 from the states and wanted for peace of mind check it out .
We were told that Rolex France does authenticate for free , but he would have to leave the watch there for about a week
We did insist a little and as I could show them that I live in Spain .. couldn't come back ..blabla and finally one of the staff remembered me from before . They took it away and the head technician came back to tell us it was ok .

So, I guess Rolex can stick that pamphlet where right up there where I think they can stick it

What's going on here??? Perhaps we don't love ourselves enough that we

think we are not worth of investing in a real watch.

Can you think of any other brand where the products are so loved while the company is so reviled?

Oh, wait; I just got the new iPhone!

Never mind...

I don't mind people bringing watches in for authentication, you get to see all sorts - I had to prick the ego of someone with an extremely bad Daytona fake today. Perk of the job But saying that, I'd trust the judgement of members here more than some (if not most) who work at ADs - they give us ADs who give a damn a bad name
