SS Daytona the most popular Rolex in Manhattan!!!!
So I had just finished taping my episode for the Dr. Oz show and I had on my new grail SS daytona. I was walking down 6th ave and I counted 6 SS daytonas in a 4 block radius. All of the guys that were wearing them werent wearing fakes if you know what I mean. They were well dressed and very cool. I wonder if its because in Manhattan everyone is more conscious of appearance and alot of folks have lots of MONEY!!! It made mine feel a little less exclusive but when I looked at mine again I was quite happy and extremely satisfied with my grail!!! Anyone else notice this in Manhattan???? In New Orleans where I live I NEVER see a SS daytona at a store or otherwise.

That makes me sort of happy I did not get one now. I hate having the same thing as everyone else.

I don't know what's going on - there seems to be a flood of new ss daytona's on the market... I picked up a brand new v series black face and a brand new v series white face in the past 2 weeks...
Still want a Zenith though... |

Seems like the price has soften as well most of the ones on TRF are below MSRP. There are some good deals if you have the cash 6 weeks ago no one had any now TRF is flush with them.

I also grew up here in Jersey and have worked in NYC for most of my adult life and what I see most often in the city are Subs in SS, just like my 16610.
Although I was in a meeting recently with someone wearing a Yacht-Master SS/Plat which I admired the whole time and prompted me to seek out and purchase one of my own. Which I did! But no, I don't see that many Daytonas, and believe me I look! |

You own Rolex. It's the most ubiquitous luxury watch brand in the world. You want exclusivity - get AP, Patek, Lange, etc. We buy Rolexes for a reason - they are perennial classics. And they're reliable.

I hope nobody takes offense to this but Ss daytona's hype days are numbered. While sure the SS daytona is a very attractive watch indeed, there are more and more being produced annually. As more and more get into circulation the price will start to fall in line. That being said I doubt it'll stop ss daytona lovers from getting them except those that are anal with resale price.

I have rarely seen SS Daytonas in NYC. I lived there for 2 years.
The most SS Daytona, I have encounted was at Newark Airport Terminal C on a flight back to Chicago... there was 3 SS daytonas near me... not including mine. |

I spotted a wg with a meteorite dial yesterday at subway restaurant in Chicago... I obtained a ss white dial one a few months ago and think of it as a achievement... So a young girl around 22-25 pulls up in a blue porshe... She had really big eyes if you get my drift... And sporting a wg one... Man I thought it took my 40 yrs to get my daytona!

Just goes to show what GREAT taste those folks have!!! Shouldn't take away from your enjoyment of YOURS!
By the way, are you counting Brian Williams too??? I know his is black. Every night when I watch the Nightly News I practically sprain my neck trying to see which watch he's wearing!!! My husband just laughs! |
