Question about new Sub-C crown?

Not sure if this one's been talked about before, but is the crown on the new SUB-C larger than the original Sub-date 16610?

Thanks - JJ

Holding it next to the crown on my Tudor Sub, and it looks to be the same size. I think the DSSD crown is larger.

It does indeed, it is noticeable when you put it alongside a standard Triplock. I think it might be more to do with keeping it in proportion with the rest of the watch than performing a technical function

True.............but I'm pretty sure it has also something to with all those extra thousands of feet that the DSSD has been rated waterproof over the Subs!!

i think the crown guards aren't as deep which would make it appear larger.

Hi JJ,
Train-Time posted a new thread a few days ago with photos of the old and new.

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=141826

To me it looks like the crowns are the same size from the photos

It actually slots-in nicely in your rotation, Rob.

You'd have the complete evolution of a Sub. From the simplest, to the elegant, and all the way to the extreme hard-core!

Hi JJ,

There is a thread on this comparison to the old 16610 SubDate.

http://rolexforums.com/showpost.php?...09&postcount=1

The SubDateC has the same size crown as the old SubDate.

The DSSD crown is larger but IMO the mechanics did not change. The standard triplock seals are capable (at 500 bar) of handling the DSSD depth rating.

Pix below are Whuzzers.

I think the crown is the same but the shaft looks thicker. It may be an optical illusion though.
