8 Days...
FedEx brought this one today. The JLC movement is just tooooooo sweeeeeet!!!
Size of case and dial are perfect. Gold hands add a sweet vintage touch and the movement is BUTTUH.

Welcome to the 8 day club.
Gorgeous watch if I do say so myself.... Now, in your case, do you flip the watch when the PR gets down to zero???

The power reserve. These are not automatics. So , on a full wind, they will run for a full 8 days ( mine ran just over 9) This was used in the navy days, so the watches had less exposure to moisture entering the watch & ruining them. This has the meter on the front The one like Darens & below, has the meter on the back. The Two have JLC movements, the one with the PR in the front, has the new inhouse Panerai P2002 movement.

Daren I noticed that you had a 57C a while ago. That looked like a keeper to me, but I would be interested to hear how you found it and what you thought of the titanium case.
I see that you now have an 8 day model. How does that compare to the Black Seal 8 days? I have seen a Black Seal for sale locally for just under AUD$5,000. Looks real good, but I don't know if I'm ready for a Pani yet :) |

Beautiful watch.
I like the idea of a fuel gauge.

The 57C was nice, but just never grabbed ahold of me. I see them selling for almost 2K more than I sold mine for, less than a year later. But I don't flip through watches to make money, my banker could attest to that. Give a Panerai a try mate, you may just fall in love.

Can you help me to justify purchasing a 233? It is all I want in a Panerai...brushed case, fiddy case, date function, 8 day movement, but a nice chunk of change. $10k is a lot to tie up in ONE watch. To make it work without dipping too much into savings, I would most likely have to sell both sub date and 104 or atleast one. Guess I can't go wrong with the sub date/104 combo. |

Pans use JLC movements? I know the original Pans had Rolex movement in them.
Seems the Panaris are the second favorite watch of many Rolex owners! I really do like the 40mm GMT they have! And really nice looking watch Dman!! Congrads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That Lum is awesome! |

I know what you mean Adam, but I sacrificed a couple of pieces for the 190 as I knew the secondary prices were only going one way. I love the 233 and if I had the spare change I would have bought one a few weeks back. I am glad that John from here was able to land it from my AD though. I still have a BASE, DJ and Omega SMP but I feel like for me I can wear the 190 99% of the time and be fine. The 233 seems like that type of watch for me. Love the Fiddy case.

The JLC movement was a temporary thing, they have also used GP movements and Unitas and ETA re-worked movements. Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for making my decision any easier :)
Where do you think the 233 values will go? Myabe Panerai will make model similar to the 233, but without GMT and/or power reserve functions. That would keep the cost down a bit. Check your email. I sent it through TZ. thanks. Adam Quote:

Daren,
A belated congratulation on acquiring such magnificent time piece. I know the feeling when wearing one, I have a PAM 048 myself. But the 8 days is another Panny altogether! ... if only they make it in 40 mm. Question: I thought Panerai manufacture their own movement OP 1012 (not sure of the numerical identification) for the 8 day? Anyway, great watch. Simple yet speak volume. Regards, Han |
