Bad scratch on a 2.5 week old DSSD
Went to a restaurant last night and the wooden toilet door banged on my DSSD. It is virtually brand new and this "smiley" is making me feel very very bad. Any ideas how to remove this? If i rub my finger on it, i can feel its slightly deep.

Nothing a good polish wont remove. Do you have a trusted watchmaker you can go to?

Maybe a Cape Cod cloth? Might be worth a few bucks to pick one up and give it a try, sure can't hurt.

The first scratch is the most painful Have the case lightly polished - no big deal.

By the sound of the OP, that scratch is a little too deep for a Cape Cod. But, like you said, it can't hurt.

That thing is going to stick out like a truck tire on your wrist so you are going to catch it often...
That being said it can be buffed out... -db |

It is an AWESOME piece. I LOVE MINE. However, it is sooooo thick it will be scratched sooner or later!
Dont worry about it. Soon you wont even notice it. In 5 -8 years send it to the RSC. AL

Sorry to hear about the scratch...
it's an awful feeling, especially on a new watch! But like most of the replies stated, unfortunately you're bound to get more on that watch. I bought my SD & when I got my first scratch I was traumatized. Now it is my #1 kick-around watch that I wear for outdoor work stuff, etc. Still "cleans up nicely" but I'm no longer paranoid wearing it.

Be carefull when you get it polished out, the high speed buffing wheel watchmakers use may generate too much heat and deteriate the HEV gasket.

Generally your AD will do it for free. It should be a minimal cost if not.

Sorry to hear about your DS, Saad. I has my first scratch on my DS within the first two weeks and luckily you cannot see it unless a magnifying glass is used. But I know it's there and it made me super careful when wearing the watch. But... I know sooner or later it will get more scratches; I'll just try to minimize getting them. Anyways, continue to enjoy your DS as I do mine.
