Vintage Mickey Mouse watches

Hi all,

I am beginning to feel interested in buying a vintage mickey mouse watch (maybe the same as Prof Langdon in Angels & Demons), there seem to be a lot of different supplier's as: Ingersoll, Bradley, Timex, Seiko, Lorus etc... Witch of these are the most sought after?

What I am looking for is a fun everyday watch that I will wear so it must at least be over 34mm (36-39mm would be great)

What model should I be looking for? I like both leather strap and bracelets!

It has to be a vintage model and with that I mean erlier then 1980 I guess? and preferably a collectors model, manual wind or automatic would be the best, but quartz is alright if I really like the model!

Please help me by posting pictures if possible!

Dont know a lot about the Mickey Mouse watches but early models from Timex Ingersoll's are now getting collectible. And quite a few people now
collect "character watches". Some of the very early 30s -40s are sort after
but most that turn up are from 60s 70s,and modern reproductions.Bradley
made quite a few wrist and pocket watch. But they were not made in huge numbers don't think they will ever break any price records. But anything vintage associated with Walt Disney will be collectible. And have never seen another like the one I have picked it up at a boot sale 5 jewel swiss movement.

Ingersoll produced the first Mickey Mouse watch in 1933 and these fetch good money. Ingersoll continued throughout the '40s and '50s. Then in the 60's US Time and Timex made the watches.
The watch that is actually worn by Hanks Prof Langdon in the film Angels & Demons is a Bradley pie eyed version from the 70's. Bradley, a division of Elgin National Industries started making the Mickey Mouse watch in 1972.
In the 80's Lorus (a subsidiary of Seiko) started making them.

Normally, I'm not a big Mickey Mouse watch fan BUT this watch is so unique! Great find.

Here you are masterkiller. My 1970's Bradley mechanical 'pie eyed' Mickey Mouse watch. This is the 'fat boy' version, with a fatter body to Mickey, more centralised with his foot above the number 7, not on it, with no tread on the sole of his shoe. It has an original dark blue plastic strap and the case measures 34mm.
(There is also a skinnier version, with tread patterned foot on the number 7).

Here is a still that I found on the net from the film Angels and Demons.
As you can see it is the same as my Bradley pie eyed (except for perhaps a strap change).

What's the deal about MM watches? Aside from collectability, are they worth quite a bit money-wise?

If you have an original 1933 ingersoll mint in the box then it is worth a bit, but still not anything like a rolex.
There are some hard to find watches that are collectable, like the Bradley bobbing head Mickey Mouse for example, but not big money.
I like the mechanical Bradley pie eyes, as they are slightly bigger at 34mm so can be worn by an adult (bearing in mind most early Mickey Mouse watches were made for children), and they are mechanical.

This is my other Bradley pie eye Mickey Mouse watch. It is the 'fatboy' version again but with smaller more orange coloured hands on the unworn mod strap.

Hi,
This is my first post here. Glad to have found the forum! I have a Mickey Mouse watch I can't seem to match and I can't find out who made it... Did not expect to end at the Rolex Forum but I am very happy to have found you! I prefer a Rolex but this MM watch is really cool. I would imagine it is from the 70s, quartz and it only says made in Japan. It has a built in spring bracelet.

I am not sure if I can post a link here to the Picasa Photo Album on line. It has several different views. Is it ok to add a link?

Thank you!

Hello!
Nice collection motif Mickey Mouse!
Gerald Genta, makers of fine watches had a model with this subject, and I also have seen in some Italian Watch magazines, the offering of Air Kings Rolex with Mickey on its dial.
I don´t know if those dials where original Rolex made ones though.

The watch worn in Angels and Demons film, follow the text of the original Brown´s novels.

Best cordial regards, Abel.

Nice photos. My parents bought me a Bradley Goofy watch when I was in preschool (around 1973). I still remember the blue case it came in and the bright red band. I wore the heck out of it. I still have the watch, on a newer leather band (the old band was for a child's wrist). I don't think it is worth much, but it is a cute watch.

My mom bought a MM watch a couple of years ago, because she never had one as a kid. She loves hers.

Go for it!
