I was near the Cartier Flagship Store on Fifth Avenue on Friday and I was wearing my Roadster. I know that Cartier steam cleans their watches, at no charge, if your watch passes a pressure test. I had my watch steam cleaned while I waited and it looks great. Does anyone know if Rolex Service Centers offer a similar complimentary service?

Some AD's I've visited offer it but not sure about RSC's.

Yeah Ben Bridge will do it for free.

But then they always try to get me to buy a watch while I am waiting.

My AD steam cleans my watch and the Mrs jewelry any time we're there.. or at least they ask... sometimes we say no........

Having dealt with the NY center, if they do offer it they would probably charge a significant sum. Try calling them and then post the answer. I'm curious to know as well.

Stay away from Ben Bridge Jewelers in South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, Ca. They put a big dent in my old Seadweller 4000 after steamcleaning my watch. Real incompetent jerks. Clean your own watch with liquid handsoap and toothbrush.

The most effective way to clean a watch is to remove the bracelet, and put the bracelet only in the ultrasonic cleaner.

Clean the head with a toothbrush, and the same amonia, jewelry cleaner, and hot water mixture that is in the ultrasonic cleaner. rinse in cool water, and hand dry with a soft cloth.

Steam the bracelet with hard steam between the links to remove the black residue inside. (Inspect screws) and then wipe dry.

Put the watch back together, and wipe fingerprints off.

If you use light steam over 8 inches from the steam tip, you won't risk hurting it, but it doesn't do anything you couldn't do with a tooth brush. Heat the case with steam at a close distance and risk damage.
