The direction Rolex is going these days, I would expect the next Tool watch would have the ability to post on twitter.

Uh, hand gliders?? I guess there wouldn't be any issues with the watch not being fully wound while worn!

Rolex sponsors sports like tennis and equestrian. Would they ever make models to appeal to these two audiences? What features could reasonably be expected?

The next Sports Rolex is a SS/TT/YG/WG Wimbledonmaster, in 41mm/34mm/29mm.

The last brand new model to come out was the Yachtmaster in the early 90's right?

Hmmmmmmmm....................come to think about it, Yazo............you could be right.

All the newer models are just derivatives and modifications of the older ones!!

YM II. Only the name was similar to something else in the lineup, otherwise it's an entirely new invention.

Digital Rolex Watch - I'd buy that in a heart beat.

Move over G-Shock

How about a sweep second hand that actually sweeps smoothly with no visible ticks whatsoever.

I'm not too sure rolex will move away from 28800 bph anytime soon. If you increase beat frequency then you get into a whole lot of problems like deceased service interval times which leads to a decrease in reliability and ruggedness which rolex prides themselves on. That's the main reason why the industry standard is 28800 not 36000 or higher. I've only seen one watch with flawless sweep that's the seiko springdrive and they have a ridiculous bph but they also don't have a traditional escapement so that's how they managed that :p
I'm happy with rolex's movements as is thankyou :)

I'm glad I got in when I did.

I'm not ready for the future.

Rolex is like the Porsche 911, no need to tinker with perfection.

Yeah, and its performance is heavily reliant on good maintenance.

Strangely, my watch has yet to drip some oil.

And like Porsche, it doesn't stop them from tinkering and modifying...

I personally like the newer models... or at least the updated versions I should say. For example, the DJ IIand the DD II, at 41 MM. I think those are nicer watches then the old version. Just MHO.

Hopefully it'll be a stainless steel quartz-movement Day-Date with a solar charging dial and an radio-syncing to atomic time.

Why not a hardened titanium watch with improved shock resistance for violent activities or rough land/water adventures? Sort of super-submariner... dressier than a g-shock

Market and trend will push Rolex to make faster steps, and also push the price higher.

Why not a watch designed for infantry men?

Call it the Combat-Master.

so going from 993 air-cooled to water-cool was a more perfect setup then?
