Southern California/Orange County Meeting
I am fairly new to this forum, but not to watches and I need your help. I am seriously thinking about putting together a meeting for Los Angeles and Orange County members (but open to all geographic areas) to be held in a private meeting room at an upscale eatery in Orange County. I assume with room rental and a great buffet the cost would be in the $75.00 range. I'm not looking to make anything for doing this, and I would try to make the entry fee less than that if possible.
An event like this is, in my opinion, long overdue as there are large and small dealers as well as just "watch guys" that need to connect for all the right reasons. I'm looking at a mid week date, say Nov 17th and need a body count as soon as you can commit to this. I own a chemical mixing plant and have no "motives" other than to put guys (and possibly girls in the hobby) together for a night of not "cigars" or "cars" (although I enjoy both), but discussions between others about timepieces. Don't really know where this would go from here, but I felt like I had to start somewhere.......PM ME YOUR THOUGHTS, BECAUSE I WILL ONLY MOVE FORWARD WITH THIS WHEN I RECEIVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK!! All the best, Keith |

I will be coming out from NYC for Thanskgiving. If you move the date back I could attend.
P.S. 75 is okay with me. |

That week is tough for me, I will be in Minneapolis all week, a weekend works better, traffic is lighter going down to OC.

Im in.......
I am very flexible on date/time/place. There are a couple of nice waterfront restaurants/yacht clubs here in Newport that might work and may not cost us anything but the cost of a nice lunch. Send me a PM if you would like me to make some inquries after we get a date and possibly a back up date set.

I will be talking next week with a Forum Member who knows the managers at the Rolex Store in South Coast Plaza and will be investigating the possibility of of meeting for a time at that store. We want to include as many as possible for the "first" gathering, so soon a decision will be made as to actual date and time......I'll let all that have responded know.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND INTEREST!! |

Right now, it's looking like 11/17 dinner at 6 - 6:30 and then on to the Rolex South Coast Plaza store (easy walk in the mall) for some special "surprises" on display. More details to follow. Who's ready to commit? PM either PrismResearch or ERSnyder.

Meeting date and time now set
To All Orange & Los Angeles County Members:
The date is Wednesday, November 17th at 6:00PM in South Coast Plaza 3333 Bristol Street, Santa Ana 92626 (405 Freeway @ Bristol) at the Capital Grill. Your incurred cost will be only what you order from the menu. After dinner, we will be taking a walk over to the Rolex Store located in the mall. For the required space requirements at the restaurant, please let us know if you are planning to be there and how many people will be with you. We are also asking anyone who has a "special piece" to bring it along to share with the others the "how and why" of how you tracked it down, ect. (Holy grail stories?). Hope to see as many of you as can make this first event successful. All the best, Keith Hogan and Eric Snyder |

Great GTG! Big thanks to Keith and Eric.
Here's a pic of Eric taking photo's, which I assume will be here shortly, to peak your interest. We got nicely acquainted, ate well, drank a very nice bottle of wine (thank you again, Steve), and saw nice very nice Rolexes! Hope to see everyone and more folks, next time! Nathan

Southern Cali Meeting A Success!!
This meeting proved that there are some pretty dedicated (and somewhat crazy) guys who are looking to set aside some time out of their busy lives to talk watches!! I know there were many more who wanted to be part of this and that with advanced notice would have joined us; that said, we will probably do another similar meet after the first of the year. As soon as the decided date/time is set, I will let everyone know. I welcome your comments.
All The Best, Keith |

Very possibly late February and on a weekend for the majority of attenders sched. At this point, I'm thinking about a trap/skeet shooting outing located near where the 605 meets the 60 freeways, but I am open to other locations.....please respond to this idea so I know if another option would need to be explored.........Keith

Maybe we could meet at the Rolex Store! And we could have lunch at Larry's a restraunt right across from Torneau in South Coast Plazza.

I think the capital grill worked out very well as a meeting point as it has an excellent menu and a full bar, as well as a hot waitress wearing a 5513 as our server! The rolex store was VERY accommodating and I do not think any good can come from a bunch of Rolex WIS's being near Tourneau.
I too live in Newport Beach but im happy to drive up to LA or down to SD whenever. |
