Basically Rolexes dress line, there's the Oyster Collection which consists of basically all of the models you normally see on this forum. Then there's the Cellini Collection which is where all of Rolexes slim dress watches reside; usually in gold.

What if someone had red hair, and one or even two step-parents? Wouldn't that comment be just as offensive as any racial epithet? Beyond even that, the comment originally is about violence against children. Is that supposed to be funny in this day and age?

If you interpret it that way, yes, it does sound offensive. But I'm sure he didn't have that intention - perhaps a change in wording may soften the language a little.

Regarding the Cellini however, they're okay, but I would go for other brands for dress watches.

That saying is so old that everyone in the English-speaking world should know that it is not meant to be offensive, although it is true that redhead-headed children do take a lot of ribbing and sometimes some kids can be rough.

In the adult world however and among those of us who don't wear our feelings on our sleeves or have a bitter grudge against the world, it is just an old saying.

My mother and sister have red hair, although at 83 mother's hair is mostly gray now, but there's no mistaking that it was red. As a matter of fact, my mother's hair was the reddest red that I've ever seen in the world of natural hair color.

My hair is going gray now, but there was a time when, although my hair was blonde, it had a reddish tint to it. In my youth, I was often called "Red," but it never stuck.

So, insofar as there is no shame in being a redhead or in being a stepchild, I think we can see the humor in such a term. Let's just say that it's been "grandfathered" in.

I suppose you could substitute the word, 'n*****' for the phrase and use the same set of justifications, 'old, not meant to be offensive, no shame in being', etc., and you can see how it would sound. I know it wasn't your phrase, but I do find it offensive. I grew up in a violent home. My brother got the worst of it, and it still hurts, 60 years later.

TOO BAD. The world does not revolve around your personal history. I am sorry you had a bad home life (I did too). That is not the fault of anyone on this forum and your taking your issues out on anyone here, and in public says volumes about you and your inability to overcome one of life's many obstacles.

As for your equating "red headed step child" with the "N-word", you trivialize the African American experience with racism and discrimination. The two are not in the same ball park or even the same universe. Listen if you want to hear stories of childhood abuse, I could entertain you for hours with stories of abuse extending into my young adulthood.

I'm sorry that you've had hardships in your life, but please don't hold the entire world responsible for it.
