1997: Me wearing my 14270 (the ultra legible watch), coming to the office meeting a female colleague that notices my watch.
"Do you have poor eyesight?" 2008: Wearing a white 16570 "Is that an Omega?" 2009: Wearing a 16610 "I have the same model as yours." Me looking at his wrist seeing an Omega Seamaster. "No, mine is different", showing him my watch. "Is that the new Bond model." "Well ... no, it is a different brand. It is a Rolex." "Oh ... Rolex are for old people." "True. I am older than you. I am also your boss." |

I've personally had very few compliments on any of my watches. It's always nice when it does happen though. As others have said, it's usually someone who's also into watches. Seems the more expensive the watch, the less it gets noticed... which isn't always a bad thing depending on where you are and the people you're around. I went to a doctor the other day and noticed he was wearing a blue "Bond" Seamaster. As we were walking to his office, I said "I like your Seamaster." We proceeded to have a nice chat about watches (of course it was probably the most expensive chat about watches I've ever had ). |

Nothing was said, but a work colleague bought an identical 16610, and only when I commented on it did he admit that he'd been inspired to buy it after he'd noticed mine. So a compliment of sorts.

My solution: Somebody: What is your watch, glass is green, I've never seen it. Me: It's a FAKE Rolex, nevermind. Somebody: Ohh ok. |

I tend to get the most compliments when I wear my Zebra and Daytona Leopard at the same time. I think people dig the whole African safari/diamond mining vibe.

I have twice received compliments on my 16613 blue dialed sub.. However, both times it was how they liked the "blue" dial on the watch, neither recognized the watch as a Rolex.

In 30 years two people complimented. One each for my 14K TT DJ and my 18K Super Jubilee TT DJ.
Does this count? At an office party last year in a room totally flooded with bright sunlight one of my co-workers came up to ask the time. She grabbed my left wrist and held my Super Jubilee upside dowm to her about 4 inches from her face. I know there are a lot of tool fans here but there is nothing like a TT DJ with a Jubilee band or a Day Date in certain light. Unmistakenly Rolex. |

x2.
It surprised most non-WIS that Rolex has such a "strange-looking" model with green sapphire crystal! The YM on the other hand gives many the impression that it's a tag heuer Aquaracer...

Only twice in over 17 years with my 14060. The first time I was asked if it was a Bulova. The second time the guy was excited because he thought we were wearing the same watch...he was wearing the Invicta sub "knock off".

For me, many friends and colleagues' first comments are " Fake rolex?". That was when I was wearing my daytona SS. Usually i just ignore these comments, cos its very hard to gauge whether a rolex is real or fake without careful examinations, I dun want to spend time explaining myself just to tell them its real.

I don't get compliments on my watches but my wife often does. I think it's sales people trying to butter her up.

Really, none. I don't think people who aren't into watches even notice. Works for me!

I've caught people looking at my watch but never got a compliment. My shoes, all the time however.
