2010 LV for 1998 GMTII? HELP!!!
I'm facing a quandary, in that I'm being tempted to sell my 2010 and mint LV for a 1998 GMTII. The latter has been at Rolex Bexley for six months since which time it has not been worn. It looks fantastic as a consequence. It doesn't have the trit dial, but I'm advised that everything is original.
I reckon I'd make about £500 on the deal for what it's worth, so... should I or shouldn't I??? I love them both, so asking me which one I want doesn't help... what I would say, though, is that I'm developing a preference for older watches.

Ignore how the money stacks up - choose the one you prefer
However reading your blog: "I’d always considered it an icon in the true sense of the word, and the only reason my original Sub was allowed to go was in order to fund the LV that is now my absolute keeper." You sound like you can't make your mind up - just like me!

Buy the watch you like...it's wrist time wearing a watch you love that counts, otherwise you're wasting your money keeping something which has no magic. Cheers

I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and predict that owners of Classic GMT's are going to recommend the GMT and Sub guys are going to recommend keeping the Sub ...

Hiya Tony - don't so it. Keep the LV. It's just your wandering eye that's getting you interested.
I say this as someone who sold his 16610 in prefrence to keeping my 16700 - the one at the bottom of this page (on jubilee and oyster) http://www.doubleredseadweller.com/gmt_transition.htm If you realy like the GMT then I say save a while, but keep the LV - IMO. Cheers! |

Well, thanks for all the responses. In fact, I've decided to keep the LV for now, but will keep my eyes peeled for a lovely 5513/1680 with T-dial, unblemished case and a nice patina.
Anyone out there with such an example... I suspect this all started with the 1968 Grand Seiko I acquired, and now it'll no doubt be a slippery slope, but my mind really does seem to be tuned towards vintage at the moment - so much more soul IMO.
