First rolex (sub-c) purchase
What is a fair discount to work towards for a new sub- c from an authorized dealer?
I'm hoping to receive reasonable near transactable estimates rather than the deal of a lifetime estimate. This will be my first purchase from the AD I buy from. Any tips on how you negotiated your first purchase would be appreciated. If it matters from a pricing aspect I live in the Philadelphia burbs. Thanks, Bill Last edited by wbellinz; 17 December 2010 at 09:02 AM.. Reason: Corrected error |

All ADs are different but being as it's your first purchase do not expect a lot. All I can say is cash talks so see what they will give you if you pay with cash!!!

I don't know how it works but if you bought something from Canada and brought it over would you be able to get the canadian taxes refunded? If so shoot me a PM i might be able to get you an unbelievable deal.

I'd go visit a few or 6 times and make friends with a salesperson. Show interest and keep going back to talk to them. Show real interest in a solid gold model but try on the SS version now and then also. Then, finally, one day, call them and say, well, I know I can't afford the solid gold model so...if you can sell me the SS version for $ (insert your offer here) I can be there in half an hour with and specify how u will do the deal. Cash credit card.....interest free financing on bal????
You won't know until you try. It worked for me and I had not planned on a SS model. I wanted the solid gold GMTIIC. One day, wham, it hit me. I also loved the GMTIIC SS. The store was as shocked as I was and happy to do business at a deal that was good for both of us. Good luck.

I have visited a few ADs since I'm thinking of a Sub C. They both told me they wouldn't do anything on a green one if they had it, but I got offers of around $6,400 and $6,300 from two separate ADs in NJ on the Black Ceramic Sub. Hope this helps. I was in NYC today and stopped in Tourneau out of curiosity, and they wouldn't do anythin on a Sub-C. I guess there are enough tourists and people with plenty of NYC money that they don't need to discount this model.

It is still a relatively new and "hot" watch. Wait a bit and you'll be able to get at least 10% on that one, if you seem like a repeat customer. It might be worth driving outside a metropolitan area if you live in such. It is harder for some high-brow chain story at the high end mall to discount as they have very high fixed costs. A family owned place in a smaller city would be easier in my experience.
As always, you have to make the trip, most Rolex ADs won't do deal over the phone or ship the watch, even in-state. |
