I recently received a copy of the new Tudor catalogue from my local Rolex/Tudor AD. Having spent some time going through it cover to cover, I am impressed. Tudor offers some interesting and different features which I think would appeal to many Rolex followers. I should say up front that I love my Rolex watches and likely always will. Wouldn't part with them. What I am feeling is that Tudor is a perfect complement to a Rolex collection, and not just the vintage pieces (which are more Rolex-like) but the new pieces too.

Here are a few examples of what I mean about interesting Tudor features:

-lots of size options. Day-Date (Tudor calls it Date-Day) in 39mm and 41mm. Date in 28mm, 31mm, 36mm, and 38mm. A nice Double Date (two windows for the date numbers) in 42mm. A huge number of chrono options ( eg. Grantour, Hydronaut II, Iconaut, Chronograph, Heritage ) in 41mm, 42mm, and 43mm. Divers in 31mm, 41mm, and 45mm.

-interesting combination and use of steel and ceramic in some bands and in some cases.

-interesting use of colors and hand sizes, eg. the Hydro 1200 has a red minute hand and part red writing on the dial. The Heritage chrono has an orange seconds counter and orange on the 45 minutes totalizer sub-dial.

-you can get blingy if you want (diamond dials and bezels), a diver with a rubber strap, and a really sharp dress watch like the steel/yellow gold 55003 Date.

I know that many other watch brands offer all these things, but with a Tudor I think I feel more in the Rolex family (I recently bought the Heritage chrono).

I haven't seen the Hydro 1200 (ref 25000) in the flesh, but I am really interested in seeing it with the combined steel/black ceramic band, even though I have a few Subs!! It is 45mm and IMHO pretty funky looking. This version of the Hydro 1200 sells for $4,445 in Canada.

Honest I am not a Tudor salesperson, just impressed!!

I travel outside of the US a fair bit, and have managed to see the
current Tudors at ADs from time to time. They seem 'edgier' in their
designs than Rolex, and some work better for me than others.

I like many, like the Hydronauts, but dislike some others like the
Hydro1200 and Aeronaut.

I too am impressed with some of the Tudor range. However, living in the UK I find there are NO authorised Tudor dealers in my country. In view of this I will sadly not likely buy one which is a shame. I hope Rolex decide to set up a UK based dealer in the future.

I have really started to look at some of the date-day options and I agree, there are some very nice combos.
