PAM 348 Radiomir Tourbillon GMT

I was at the Shanghai IFC boutique yesterday and the sales team was kind enough to show me the new PAM 348 Radiomir Tourbillon GMT.

Wow..........this is an amazing piece of workmanship (one of 30 pieces worldwide) encased in the 48mm ceramic case, with the see thru black skeleton work on both sides of the watch. You can also see the polished tourbillon cage going through the 360 degree rotation at the 10 o'clock mark. Mounted on the wrist, immediately you can feel the thick ceramic case to accomodate the rotating tourbillon cage.

What's the price? Approx. US$160,000.

Sorry no pics coz I was without my camera.

Sounds like quite an experience Le.. May have to pay a trip over to the IFC tomorrow lunchtime. Any sign of the PAM 420?

Kevin, yes very much an experience indeed! This particular watch came with a very good serial number as well. Bring along your camera for a few pics also.

Hopefully the 420 will arrive by end of the month (if nothing goes wrong with the shipping).

Thanks for the update Lee. I've been hearing the 'by the end of the month...' story from the boutique for the last four months, hopefully it's true this time as I've already picked up a few other non pams since I placed the order and at some point will run out of funds....

it's the dial that shows the am/pm indicator.

Interesting watch but I believe that due to mechanical inefficiencies this movement is less accurate than some of the Pam in-house non tourby movements.

Is this correct?

Huge price?

It is a base P2005 calibre hand wound movement, with the exception the movement is skeletonized, therefore it's a P2005/S calibre. I don't think there are any less parts (277 components) as compared to a standard P2005 movement.

My personal opinion is you can't put a price on such movement. It is the same price as 10 x PAM 339 but the pleasure is worth 10 times more. For me I'm already very happy to lay eyes on this beauty.

I read that the tourbillon action was introduced to make the movement more accurate by averaging out the effect of gravity but that the extra mechanical gearing made it less accurate?
