I bought my first Stainless Submariner in the mess hall of the submarine i was serving on the USS Tench SS417 in 1958, when I had just turned 18 yrs. old.
A Rolex factory repersentive came down to the boat and did a presentation. I paid somewhere under $500 back then, I think! I remember fiancing it through the Armed Forces European Network.
