The gift of an Omega
So, I decided to give a close friend (and WIS) my Seamaster Pro (2254.50) for his birthday today. It was my first nice watch and he's admired it since I brought it home the first day. I'm fortunately to be able to give a gift like that and I know he'll love it as a fellow WIS. But it created a serious problem - no black dive watch for daily wear. What to do?
I've long admired the quintessential dive watch - the Submariner. Often copied, never quite duplicated and now one is mine! Last night, I picked up my first Rolex after MUCH deliberation, research here on TRF, and a little hesitation with the price. I'm floored at how much the bracelet and clasp are improved over previous generations - it's more fitting of a Rolex IMO. And the glide lock is simply awesome and allows for perfect fitment and flexibility. The lume isn't as bright as my SMP but lasts longer and the blue tint is noteworthy. Cell phone cameras are getting better so here's a nice pic of my new present to myself: |

Nice score! The new Sub is simply fantastic. Everything about it is perfect, IMO. The 2254 you gifted ain't too shabby either.

Yea!! You have restored my faith in the generosity and kindness of the majority of TRF members. The past few days of negative threads and rude comments had me concerned. Happy 2011 to all.

Well, I knew the Omega wouldn't get much (if any) wrist time now that I have the Sub-C and I would MUCH rather see it on a close friend who loves watches.
He was be thrilled with a gift and his response was well worth the cost. It beats being nickel and dimed selling it on one of the many forums. So, it was a no brainer and makes me feel very fortunate to be able to do it. |

Great gift, bet your friend was over the moon with it.
I also like the reason why you had to replace it with a Sub-C |

Great gift and congrats on the new sub. The new sub is such a great watch, leaps and bounds over the old sub IMHO.
