Ugh, I have no sales resistance

Stopped by my jeweler to drop off my wife's watch for a battery and servicing and started talking to the owner, big mistake.

I told him that I was going to buy an Explorer II next month and being the salesman that he is he said you have to see what I have. He walked over to the case and pulled out an almost perfect Rolex Datejust Two Tone that he had on consignment.

Now I really want an Explorer II but the Two Tone was just too good to pass up. The watch is seven years old, had been service by him about three years ago and it is in almost new condition.

The watch had been a retirement present from the owners employer and he almost never wore it so there isn't a scratch on it, no stretch in the watchband and it had all of the paperwork, links and boxes for $3,500.

So after some back peddling and hemming and hawing I decided that the price was good enough that I could resell it if I have too many regrets about buying it. And I still have enough money to buy a good used Explorer II next month.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'll be able to bring myself to wear the watch.

If I did everything right here is a picture of the watch.

You got to start somewhere.
The DJ is a good start. And you will remember this one for a long time because it is your first.
Congrats for taking the first step.
The second will be a lot easier

Sounds like me, I have a hard time saying no sometimes.

But if you can't wear it what good is it really?

Looks like a great watch, wear it and enjoy it, or sell it and get one you will wear.

I'll probably wear it, just not daily, but I'll buy a NATO or leather band for it as the band is what really suffers from wear.

Why would you take the band off? To preserve it? If so, who are you preserving it for? It's your watch and you should get the enjoyment from it in FULL. I dont understand wrapping them in cotton wool, all you are doing is looking after it for someone else, after all, one day someone will wear it as it is supposed to be worn. Enjoy it, we only live once.

X2. No Rolex watch wants any form pampering.

Wear it!! And enjoy it!!! That's an order!!!
Don't worry about scratches, its a ROLEX, it'll handle it, so don't worry

P.s. I was like that 2 years ago when I got my first, so I know exactly how you feel!!
Congratulation.

I see a date (34mm), not a datejust (36mm). Awesome watch though! Congrats on the purchase!
