DateJust running stopping/running slow

Hi.

Looking for some advice. I have a 16200 DateJust which I have had from new (got it about 6 years ago). Love the watch and it has been great, however over the past month or so it has been behaving a little strangely. Over the course of a day it can start to run slow by around 15 mins. This doest happen every day just from time to time. Also on 2 occasions it has stopped cold while I have been wearing it (I very rarely take it off so it so it should have been fully wound).

This is the first and only rolex I have so not sure if this is just a sign that it is in need of a service or do you think there is something more serious wrong with the watch?

Before sending it in for service I would manually wind it approx. 40 turns to see if it cures the problem.

Good luck.

Thanks for your reply.

On the 2 occasions where it stopped cold, thats what I had to do to get it restarted was manually wind the watch. What I was thinking was that there might be a problem with the self winding mechanism?

Did you wind it 40 full turns?

Yes, gave it the full 40 turns. Like I say it got the watch going again but the stopping cold happened again. I then did the same, full 40 turns (that was about 4 days ago and it hasn't reoccurred yet). However the issue with the watch running 15 mins slow is still happening.

I'm no expert but it's six years old now so I'd send it off for a service.

Could be something as easy/cheap as a worn out rotor bearing.

I would recommend taking it to a RSC or a good watchmaker for evaluation.

My local AD has a rolex accredited watchmaker in house who someone on here recommended so I was going to drop in there there next week for him to take a look at and service. Just thought I would see what folks on here thought as I was a bit worried. Was going to send it off to the RSC here in the UK but the wait times are now pushing 20 weeks!
