DateJust, how much to change the face?

Hey, I was wondering how much does it cost to get a new face for a datejust? and if the change is hard? something i can learn to do myself, or better to take to a dealer?

Thanks.

You definitely should not attempt it yourself unless you are a watchmaker.

If you take it to Rolex they will only do a dial change as part of a service that may eventually end up costing you $800 including the face change.

You are best off, if you can going to ebay and buying the new dial (if you can find what you want) and then take that to a qualified watchmaker and get it fitted.

If you can't find the dial that fits your watch, and you need to be very careful to ensure it fits your model DateJust, then you are better off going to Rolex to get them to do the work.

I second that--you do not want to mess with a dial and hands--nothing good can come of that!!

I agree with these comments. If you have decent Rolex service guy, he could easily find the right version for your watch. It's a simple change for an expert. I see dials on ebay for $300, regularly. Even lower prices are out there. If you're buying it yourself, make sure you know which model to buy.

When you change the dial does that effect the value of the piece down the road? I read somewhere that it would lower the value, but this was in regard to doing a relume job.

You can get a Rolex dial for a couple hundred dollars, then take it to a watchmaker for teh swap. It's very easy to do and doesn't take much time.
