Vernon 43, Basically with the 5146J, I just fell out of love with Y/G and instead did a deal with my AD and instead bought the 5146G with the cream dial and the newer (to that model) 324 movement.
Over the years since I first bought the 5146, my tastes have changed several times, at one period I did have a 5140G, but found that I didn't like it, so swapped it for an FP Journe Black Label Calendrier, which was an annual calendar. My current taste is for watches with apertures and the 5205G filled that criteria. Regarding the power reserve indicator, though useful if you don't intend to wear it on a regular basis. I wear mine virtually 24/7 so it isn't necessary. The am/pm hand is just that and can't be used to indicate a second timezone. With regards to legibility I would have to say that the 5146 with the cream dial is better, you would also have the advantage of the luminous hands & dots around the dial. I have just written a report on my first 6 weeks of wearing my 5205G, which you can find, by following this link: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=158393 The 5205 is a slightly larger diameter watch at 40mm compared to 39mm but sits higher of the wrist then the latter. And does not come with a deployant unlike the 5146. My strong advice to you, would be to take that two hour drive, once you have checked the ADs availability and see them for yourself, nothing can replace the actual experience of wearing them, also when you do try them on, ask the AD if you can see what they look like in natural light, as that will make a difference. Good luck and lets us know what you decide upon? Regards Tony
