What are you paying? I am more of a gilt guy myself--If you want an amazing 5513 gilt dial complete set-let me know as I know of a great collector with one. I am hesitant to comment on this one-it all depends on price.

please let me know.

I am hesitant without knowing price--now I know price. That is awfully low price for a meters first sub. Are you buying from a well known seller??

I would hope so as the original bracelet would cost 2/3rds what he is paying for the watch!! Bracelets are bracelets--the watch is what matters. Can always buy a braclet.

Great deal then-go for it. The bracelet does not matter--I wear all of my vintage subs on 93150's also-far more comfortable!

Thanks for your great help I just needed some encouragement as this will be my first vintage and I know there will be more to come just wanted to make sure I did the right thing before I purchase and keep learning.

If everything is legit and in good working order, etc ... it's an amazing deal.

Hi,
Mine is sn #1,607,xxx and yours is an absolutely super example with box & papers!
Bezel insert is correct, and plexi looks like the original superdome tropic 19. Only thing is to check if crown has been changed or is original twinlock.
Don't worry about the bracelet as this can be replaced later if you want 100% originality.
PM me if you want to see a pic of mine.
Best regards,

It appears to be twin lock as far as me eyes can tell.

My watch was given to me by my uncle who bought it new. It has the Rolex service replacement tropic crystal and triplock crown as I wanted it to be water resistant. The tritium still glows, but not for long and it appears to be off-white with a pale green tint. The matte black paint has "texture" (not flat) and looks somewhat like a road surface. Outdoors, and at an angle, you can see the occasional shiny metallic speck. There has not been much mention about the paint used on the matte Sub dials, but the paint used on this one is fascinating

Also, looking at your bezel insert, the "4" in 40 and the "0" in 10 are identical to mine (focus on the dark enclosed area).

Best

What's the difference (pics would help) between gilt and non-gilt dials?

Gilt dials used gold in paint and have glossy dials. Matte are flat with white writing.
See below picture of one of my 5512 Gilt dials--notice difference between it and the matte dial pictured above.
