New SS GMT Master II
Hi folks, this is my first post on the forum.
I have been to see my local AD in the UK to find out about the new GMT Master II - AD told me the retail would be £3420. My question is - I am going to Florida in August - Are there any AD's in or near Orlando who will give me discount on this watch and what is the expected RRP in the US for this Watch? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Ncledreamer |

Welcome!
Price in the U.S. is said to be $5950 USD. As yet the watch is not out here to my knowledge, but I'm told the July-August timeframe is pretty good. As to a discount, probably not at first though those in the Fla. area would know more about their ADs than I. Good luck! |

As much as I would like to say you might haggle for a discount on the new GMTII the reality may well be that you will have to wait for months if not year/s, for the new factor of this watch to wear off and for a discount to be offered. I guess this sounds pessimistic and I hope I am wrong, but the couple that I have seen have been snapped up at full retail.

I called Rolex in New York a month ago about this very question. Rolex USA has no idea when they will get any SS GMT II in. If it is like the past UK and the entire world will get the watch prior to North America. Some ADs feel the watch will not even hit the stores until late December 2007 or January 2008. Who knows when the SS GMT II makes it to the stores if there will be ample supplies for all potential buyers or if at first it will be like the LV Sub hard to find. The fact that the SS GMT II is one of the only new Rolex watches that people say is highly admired could make it hard to get. In my opinion I don’t see any discounts available for a while as it could be one of the new “hot” Rolex watches to acquire. As the dollar is very low right with a discount you may save some $
You just have two issues, find the watch and find a AD who will discount. This may be impossible to do by the time you visit. |

Welcome to TRF.
I have not seen one in Vegas either; also, there is almost never a discount on a popular model here. |

Well, for starters, the price of US$ 5950 certainly seems much cheaper than the one in the UK of £3420 or the obscene price in NZ of NZ$9975!! If you find it anywhere in the USA, go for it!! Good luck - JJ

Yeah that is what I'm thinking. I mean, what is the current GMT II's retail price, $5075? If not that then close to it. I can deal with a $900 increase for the new model with all the new features! Provided it IS going to be $5950 here in the US.

Welcome to the forum! Have not seen them here L.A., Ca. yet and highly doubt it that you will be able to get discount on a new model.

....I'm not sure the question of a red & black ceramic bezel for the new style GMT2 has been adequately answered....I heard that the colored bezels may be available in 2008...Any truth to this or is it just the old wait and see {who knows} version of most Rolex intel?

I have a friend in hong kong looking for new GMT-Master II, no luck so far. Old model can be had for around NZD6000 he reckons.
I can't believe the new SS GMT-Master II in NZ will be nearly NZD10K!!! Thankfully, I got the new TT GMT-Master II when I did. |

Don't forget that if you do find a GMT II in the USA, HM Revenue & Customs will be looking to charge you 17.5% VAT on your return home!!! Might take the edge of any price saving. |

Agreed, 17.5% plus duty at (I think) 10%.

For heavens sake, put it on your wrist for the trip back home. Ship the box - it's cheaper empty.
Make them prove you bought it after you got there. edit: Simply a perspective; I would never advocate doing anything illegal. |

P.S. Yesterday I went to all the major joints in Barcelona. Newstyle GMT ll isn't here yet, but I did run across 3 (THREE!) SS Daytonas with 2xBlack and 1xWhite face. I guess the spanish aren't into tachymetres? And timing anything? Manana, manana. |
