Will I miss my SS Sub Date?
To ex-SS SubDate owner....did you ever missed it?
I had my SS SubDate since March 2003. I've itching for some "bling" lately. My options are: 1. Sell SS SubDate...and get a TT SubDate or SS/PT YM 2. Keep the SS SubDate and get a pre-owned TT DJ or WG/SS Diamond DJ

I've always loved the SS Sub-date and have always considered it to be the ultimate Rolex.....but if you do have to sell it, then sell it for one reason and one reason only.
THIS!!!

I was in the same boat.
Got made an offer onyl few hundred off from the price i paid for mine new. But i could not part with my ss sub date. Such a classic watch with lots of memories. But its up to you, they are not that hard to find, if you wanted it again. |

Wow, never thought my first Rolex purchase 4 years ago is still popular.
Getting the DJ is actually easier for me. It saves me the trouble selling the Sub (at a good price). What may irritate me is to decide which of the 2 to wear. There are also times I feel uneasy, seeing some punk kid wearing the same Sub model. I've lost count on the number of SS Subs I've seen these past years, and wanted a some changes. Having two Rolex is also good from a financial stand point. It's easier to sell, due to the market demand of lower priced models. I've learned NOT to be an impulsive buyer over the years, and I'll patiently wait for the right oppurtunity before I pull the trigger. This may takes months/years though. Regardless, I'm just happy that I can afford to buy or upgrade. Keep the votes and opinions coming!

Hard call for sure, but if it were me I would go with the TT sub or YM, those two just do more for me. Tough call though, best of luck with the decision.

I would suggest keeping the sub cos you can wear that as your everyday watch or for other physical activities.
Then get a DJ to spice up the collection so that you can wear it for dinners and more formal events. Not that the sub look out of place in a suit but more bling is nice for dinners and such. |

Actually, that's my plan. Bling/Dress: DJ Casual: JLC MC Dualmatic on strap (Love it...love it, love it) Beater: SS SubDate Chrono: IWC Spitfire Chrono or Bling/Dress: TT Sub Date, SS/PT YM Beater: IWC Pilot Chrono...I seen tests on a 7750-based movement, it's jaw-dropping.

Since you are going to acquire other time pieces then it isn't really "necessary" to keep the Sub date. Actually I would prefer to put a G shock as a beater over the IWC Spitfire |

I have about 60 watches.
I have given some to friends and family over the years but I have never sold one. Keep them all if you can as each one was an important decision that you made.

For each purchase...a milestone achieved. JJ might disagree since, he treats his Rolex like bItches (professing love, then flips them). How many is it now? 20th? or 21st?

For me it's a no-brainer:
Keep the Sub and add a TT Datejust.
