Watch Spotting at the Gym

Was at the gym yesterday and spotted two Rolex. One Sub date and one GMT Master II with a black bezel.

Ended up talking to the guy with the GMT for some time. He bought it three years ago and had no idea that they were being discontinued. I told him to hang on to it as it could be a classic someday.

He says he never takes it off thus he even works out in it. We talked at length about various ADs and Rolex. Good times.

You go to the gym to spot watches !

Yea, OK, sure - and you thumb through magazines to "read the articles", right?

Hey, if wearing a Rolex to the gym works for him why not, just as long he doesn't try to test the shock resistance by dropping a dumb bell on his GMT

Do you wear your Rollie when you put patients to sleep? Just curious.

I have been trying to remember to take my watch off before I work out just recently.

It's mostly the crystal that gets banged up. For instance, when I do cable crossovers, it's hard to avoid metal-on-metal or metal-on-plastic scratching.

Before I spent all the money getting my watches reconditioned, I worked out in them without hesitation.
