Have US prices increased in 2011? Or scheduled to increase soon?

I completely disagree with your point of view.....Rolex's are definitely not everywhere, they may be popular but they are definitely not everywhere....Noted that you are from, L.A....and live in a country where the GDP per capita is o/a $24,000?.....and where credit, financing and etc options exist to help enable one purchase a rolex. When was the last time you went to a country where the GDP per capita...$600 per year, or $3000 per year, or etc, where credits cards are a status symbol, and for the average bloke there are very little options and means to receiving a line of credit for his bicycle, house, children's education and so forth.

If a gas station or parking attendant can afford to buy a rolex, than good for them. They definitely do deserve it after working so hard, no doubt. But, it does make me wonder how many of them can really afford it earning $10 an hour? How many of them are paying the debts and mortgages and etc....how do u think this would add stress to the global banking system if they arent able to afford it...through a series of chain reactions....how do you think that this would help the unfortunate family man living in a developing country secure a loan to send his children to school when there is no liquidity and cash is drying up.....

My point is, you SEEM to take the circumstances of the environment in which you live in for granted...in a greater perspective, rolex's are very expensive...and i'd say only 10% of the world's population at best, could afford to buy one...there is a demand for them because they are the biggest luxury brand in the world that produces quality time pieces..and they are a popular choice amongst the global elilte....but don't take your rolex for granted.

I live in the UAE which is a very rich country by any standard and I rarely see people wear Rolex. That's not to say that people can't afford Rolexes. Most people don't care about watches or they do care but don't want to fork out $7000 for a watch. What I see is that many people who own Rolexes tend to have more than one Rolex (usually 2-3 on average). As we all know Rolexes can be quite addictive . That may partially explains why many many Rolexes are sold world-wide every year.

This is not the first time that this has occurred and sadly it will not be the last time. I was at a store this weekend browsing a YM and we started to discuss how the prices have increased over the last few years. The only market that has gotten some what softer is the pre-owned.

Is it possible to detest Rolex as a company but love Rolex the watch? I think I might be there.

That is correct but believ eme, that market will follow.
It might take 6 to 12 months but you can be sure secondhand prices will follow

The Yachtmater is today yours for 4500 till 5500
I'm pretty sure at the end of the year the price will be between 5000 and 6500

It's your job to make your case. In my opinion, it sheer nonsense, based on sloppy data, poorly analyzed.

As far exclusivity is concerned, everyone here knows the ballpark figure of how many Rolex watches are made in any given year.

As to who wears them and what their station is life is, that is of no consequence at all.

Hans Wilsdorf wanted his watches to be affordable by most, if they were willing to save and he thought of his watches of symbols of achievement, not of status.

If it bothers you that you may have seen a busboy wearing a Rolex or anyone else for that matter, then buy a watch that only a few specimens a year are produced.

And furthermore, you'd probably be more relaxed if you stopped frequenting those places catering to the hoi polloi who think that Rolex is a worthy watch and can be afforded by anyone willing to make the sacrifice or who has relatives who are well off enough to give great gifts.

As for price increases, those are accounted for by improvements in the quality of the watches and increasing demand, especially in the Asian market.
