Why so little love for the TT Yachtmaster?
I was at DisneyWorld this past weekend, and while the rest of my crew was looking at Mickey, Donald and the rest, I was wristgazing like crazy --
As a guest in a foreign country, I didn't want to run up and ask to take photos with a stranger's wrist - but I was tempted... Spotted a Red-Submariner, Plenty of daytonas, submariners.. One Deep-sea - which looks just awesome at 3 ft away! A handful of Omegas And 2 TT Yachtmasters --- And I have to say WOW! THe all gold bezel Really shines under the Florida sun...and it just seems to have a bit more heft and wrist presence than the Subs and GMTs Why does no one post about this model more?? I always say that you have to see a watch in the Wild to really appreciate it, and this one really impressed me! |

I like the TT Yachtmaster but prefer a blue TT ceramic Sub better.

Loved My TT Yachtmaster
I had bought one a couple back in 2006 and loved it. It is a "blingy" watch though, which was ok with me. What I did not like about it was that it was hard to keep the bezel looking new. I finally sold it for a Harley. As things go I have just bought a GMTII C and am selling the Harley to pay for it. The never ending circle.

Well the YM in general gets less love from the Rolex crowd compared to a lot of the other sport models but I find that the bold bezel and unique dial/bezel color options really make it stand out from the other models.
Although I have the SS Plat version, I find the TT stunning as well, especially the blue dial and the slate dial! |

Whilst generally not a YM man, I do think the TT (and by extension the 18ct) model has quite possibly the most beautiful dial available for a watch anywhere in the form of the black mother of pearl dial. If you get a particularly good example, the depth of colour is truly sublime, and it plays beautifully in the light

I've always loved the YM,probably the only blingy Rolex I could ever wear. It's a bit too feminine tho, that's why smaller sizes are available. It's on my shopping list for my wife.
I had once the occasion to see a pretty beat up one from a guy employed on a racing sailboat,I have to say it looks gorgeous even when well used |

I have the blue dial also. I love that watch and don't understand why they don't get more love.

Bezel puts me off and the TT Subs look better imho. Maybe after the long overdue refresh i will feel differently.

...also what's with the steel crown on a TT model? I don't like that aspect at all. Dark Blue dial is nice though.

I think for a watch that price it shouldn't have hollow links in the bracelet and the old style clasp...apart from that it's a nice watch.

I also have the Platty but almost and I mean almost bought the TT when I bought mine. I had wanted the platty for some time but with all honesty I LOVED the look of the TT... It was a very tough decision For me the platty was the way to go, here is a pic of mine

The problem is when it does receive a makeover so will the price tag...now it will go from already expensive to a couple of grand higher IMO with the upgrades... I am glad I bought when I did

Although I think your wedding band is just calling out for that to be a TT model! - I think I feel that need to have one - man this just never stops does it? |

I've never been a huge fan of two-tone watches myself, but to each his own. There are a lot of people who pull TT off well, I'm not one of them.

Same here. Wanted a TT for a few years until I tried on a few. Does not work on me at all.

The TT YMs are nice indeed. Something about YMs just keeps the entire line from seeing as much action as subs. Or maybe it's the other way around!

It is the only TT model in the entire Rolex lineup that only comes with the SS crown, except mine of course!!

I had never really noticed the SS crown before -- I would do exactly what you did! If I pull the trigger on a YM TT you'll have to give me the details on how to make the crown switch happen! It's really amazing, I've seen this watch in th edisplay case a dozen times, and have never cared to try it on, but to see it in the Wild--WOW...the photos, and seeing it lifeless under the glass do it no justice at all... |

I've been watching the Qatar Ladies Open Final, and just saw Lothar Matthaus sitting in the crowd wearing a Plat/SS YM. Pretty cool!
For those of you who don't know Lothar Matthaus is. He's a German football legend who was the captain of Germany's last World Cup winning team in 1990. |
